New York mom and former prosecutor was reportedly so fed up with someone ringing her doorbell and running away that she took matters into her own hands; she fired a round from her pink 9mm pistol and held the teenager at gunpoint until police arrived on the scene.

On Sunday, just after 11pm, Bernadette Greenwald, of Rockville Centre, New York, told police someone twice rang her bell and disappeared before she could answer the door.

Greenwald, who was home with her two children, told police she felt she “had balls” for firing the gun after the prank caused her to snap at the teen, the New York Post reports.

Initially, she told them that a neighborhood teen rang the bell twice, and then threatened to rape her and kill her children. “The third time it rang, I observed a white male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt at my front door. I went back upstairs to my safe and retrieved my bag that had my 9mm revolver in it,” she told cops in a signed statement. Greenwald insists that she pulled the trigger only to scare the boy. “He thought it was a Barbie gun,” Greenwald told police, referring to Nolan LeBlanc, 17. “I wanted to show him that it was loaded.”

Shortly after the incident, Greenwald’s husband, Stuart arrived gome from work and wrestled LeBlanc to the floor, he told police.

Mitchell Barnett, Greenwald’s lawyer said, “”The kid admits to drinking five or six beers that night. He admits to being on their property. She didn’t do anything wrong here.”  Barnett also stated that the boy had given the family trouble before.

But police said the teen had nothing to do with the prank.  His mother told police he was walking home from a friend’s house after watching the Giants game and drinking beer. The teen was not charged.

Greenwald, who served as an assistant district attorney in the Bronx for several years before resigning, was later charged with second-degree menacing, reckless endangerment and unlawful use of a weapon after her statements to cops changed.  She was released without bail after her arraignment on Monday, the Post reports.
