The Los Angeles district attorney is investigating Sylvester Stallone. A woman claims that he raped her in the 1990s, and the accuser filed a police report in December, according to NBC News.

The Santa Monica police would not give details about the crime nor comment on why they were probing a case that may be disqualified because the statute of limitations has passed. The woman made her complaint in November of 2017, during the rise of the #MeToo movement. In November, she stated that she planned on filing a report later in the year.

Stallone, 71, is represented by attorney Martin Singer who said that Stallone “categorically disputes the claim.”

Singer implied that he was not sure who the accuser was, but if it was who he thought it was, she and Stallone had a one-week relationship while Stallone was filming a movie in Israel, according to Deadline.

“If this is the same woman, he categorically disputes this,” Singer said. “We have two witnesses who have come forward to deny her statements. One woman came forward and said that she was asked to lie for this woman to say it occurred. We have nothing to hide here.”

Santa Monica police interviewed the accuser before turning in the case to the Los Angeles District Attorney on Wednesday, a DA spokesperson said.

Stallone is a successful actor who starred and created the Rocky film franchise. He has been a successful action movie star for decades, and most recently, he used his power to help pardon boxer Jack Johnson who had been convicted by an all-white jury for having an interracial relationship.

According to NBC News, “The actor’s case is one of 15 pending under Los Angeles County’s group of veteran sex crimes prosecutors formed last fall in the wake of sexual assault allegations against former movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.”

Last year, The Daily Mail published an account from a woman who said that Stallone raped her in the 1980s at a Las Vegas hotel. She said that she was 16 at the time, and Stallone and his bodyguard invited her up to his room. She said that she went up there and the two men forced her into having a threesome. It is unclear if the LA District Attorney is looking into this story or another claim.

Stallone’s representations said that the Las Vegas story was false.
