Summary: In September, Lady Gaga will appear in a deposition in the Dr. Luke and Kesha legal battle.

After a formal request from Dr. Luke, singer Lady Gaga has agreed to show authorities possibly explosive texts between her and Kesha, Radar Online reported.

Years ago, Kesha had claimed her former mentor and music producer Dr. Luke had emotionally and sexually abused her during their nearly ten years of working together, and Dr. Luke filed a defamation lawsuit against her and her mother for the inflammatory remarks.

Dr. Luke, 43, requested Kesha’s friend Lady Gaga, 31, submit texts the two entertainers shared, and Lady Gaga released a statement that she had been cooperative and that Dr. Luke was dragging her into his mess.

“Dr. Luke’s team is attempting to manipulate the truth and draw press attention to their case by exaggerating Lady Gaga’s role and falsely accusing her of dodging reasonable requests,” Lady Gaga’s representative said.

Radar Online said that Lady Gaga had already produced a four-page spreadsheet that detailed conversations with her and Kesha, 30; but Dr. Luke complained that the evidence was redacted and not what was requested. This week, she agreed to submit un-redacted communications, according to a Manhattan Supreme Court agreement.

In 2013, Kesha sued Dr. Luke in an attempt to break her music contract, which she had signed when she was eighteen. In her lawsuit, she said that Dr. Luke had abused her and that she did not want to work with him. Her damning allegations drew public support from celebrities such as Kelly Clarkson and Lady Gaga, and Dr. Luke filed a defamation countersuit in order to clear his name.

“I didn’t rape Kesha and I have never had sex with her. Kasha and I were friends for many years and she was like my little sister,” Dr. Luke tweeted in 2016.

Dr. Luke’s lawyers told The Hollywood Reporter in July that he wanted Lady Gaga and Kesha’s texts because they proved Kesha had made false statements about him.

“Dr. Luke’s counsel served a subpoena on Lady Gaga because she has relevant information regarding, among other things, false statements about Dr. Luke made to her by Kesha,” Dr. Luke’s legal team wrote in a statement. “This motion has become necessary because Dr. Luke’s counsel has not been able to obtain, despite repeated request, a deposition date from Lady Gaga.”

E! News reported that Lady Gaga will also appear for a deposition in September. A specific date and time have not yet been determined, but all parties are supposed to agree on a scheduled date by Saturday.

Lady Gaga has publicly voiced her support and love for Kesha while avoiding explicit talk about the sexual abuse claims. In March, she appeared on the Los Angeles radio station 97.1 AMP and alluded to Kesha’s abuse without specifically calling out Dr. Luke.

“I think that people should just know that there’s so much more than what meets the eye in a case like that,” Lady Gaga said. “I feel like she’s being very publicly shamed for something that happens in the music industry all the time, to women and men.”
