Summary: A Connecticut high school teacher admitted to having sex with a student multiple times in her car.

A high school teacher in Connecticut has been arrested for having sexual encounters with a student in her car. The teacher, Laura Ramos of Pond Point Avenue, Milford, admitted to police that she had sex with a special education student “a handful of times.” She turned herself over to police after learning there was a warrant out for her arrest.

Ramos, 31, initially denied the sexual activity but later admitted to it when police questioned her. She did say she had destroyed all evidence including deleting all text messages between them. The wife and mother of a young child was charged with second-degree sexual assault. She was teaching at Central High School in Bridgeport before her arrest.

Authorities were alerted the incident when another student reported her to officials. The student, referred to as “witness 1” in court documents said that Ramos started texting him “as a ‘normal teacher’ helping a student” but that her conversation turned. She started confiding in the student, complaining about her other “guy,” who is assumed to be the student she had a sexual relationship with.

The witness further explained to officials that he had seen Ramos and the other student “make eyes at each other, like flirting.” Ramos allegedly went on to complain to the witness student that her “man” didn’t want to “have sex or do anything, tried to have him buy weed for her,” and even sent him “sexually inappropriate content.”

Screenshots of the text messages sent by Ramos to the student witness were taken. Police showed those screen shots to her when they approached her about the inappropriate relationship. She denied having sex with the student but admitted to a close relationship with him. In another interview, she finally admitted to everything that had happened. She said they had sex “a handful of times” in her car between December and April when the relationship ended.

Ramos had already gone to the teen, telling him to deny their relationship and deleting all text messages. Her attorney, Edward Gavin, said she is “cloaked in the presumption of innocence, and we look forward to obtaining all the investigative reports so that we can offer the appropriate defense.”

She submitted a letter of resignation to the school on June 20. School officials said they already started the termination process. Bridgeport Schools Superintendent Aresta Johnson said, “Human resources have dealt with it.” She posted a $50,000 bail. Her next hearing in scheduled for June 28 in Bridgeport Superior Court. If convicted of the charge, she could face up to 10 years in prison.
