Greenberg Traurig Adds Two Veteran Attorneys

Loretta A. Tuell has joined the law firm of Greenberg Traurig LLP as a shareholder, according to a press release. The firm also added Heather Dawn Thompson as practice group attorney to its American Indian Law, Government Law & Policy and Gaming practices.

Tuell joins the firm after serving as the Majority Staff Director and Chief Counsel for the United States Senate Committee on Indian Affairs. She has more than 20 years experience with federal Indian law and policies.

Thompson will split her time between the Denver and Washington, D.C. offices of Greenberg Traurig. Thompson represents clients regarding advocacy and policy work. Her focus is on the Great Plains. Thompson formerly worked as an Assistant United States Attorney for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the South Dakota Indian County Section.

According to the release, the practice co-chair and shareholder at the Denver office of the firm, Troy A. Eid, said the following:

“Both of these women are respected leaders throughout Indian Country. People admire them and their work. Both have broad and deep experience that will help the firm bring wide-ranging strategy advice to Tribes, Tribal enterprises and companies investing in Indian country. Tuell earned her law degree from the University of California at Los Angeles School of Law and her undergraduate degree from Washington State University. Thompson earned her law degree from Harvard Law School and her M.A. from the University of Florida. She earned her B.A. from Carnegie Mellon University.
