Summary: Suffolk University Law School is offering two new courses this fall term as part of their online-only Legal Innovation and Technology Certificate program.

Suffolk University Law School’s Legal Innovation and Technology Certificate program will have two new courses this fall term. The six-course online-only, part-time program helps students easily acquire new skills related to the constantly changing technology industry, according to a school press release.

One course called “Design Thinking for Legal Professionals” will cover the conceptual needs of firms to adopt human-centered methods of solving problems by identifying the needs of end-users and building solutions with the greatest value. The courses content will cover the development and testing of prototypes and how improving these tools will lead to better results. VP and Senior Corporate Counsel for Liberty Mutual’s Legal Department in the Legal Strategic Services organization Robert Taylor will teach the course.

The other course, “Process Improvement and Legal Project Management,” will be taught by Legal Lean Sigma Institute CEO and founder Catherine Alman MacDonagh. The former corporate counsel and law firm executive will discuss different strategies to building competitive advantages in the marketplace by applying important process improvement toolkits and the five primary phases to improving projects.

The two courses are central to legal professionals seeking to grow their career in a very competitive environment. They can be taken individually or as part of the program. Program faculty director Professor Gabe Teninbaum said, “Our courses are not just about conveying information – we also work to change the way our students think. These courses are emblematic of that approach, and we expect participants will develop a new lens through which to problem solve.”
