Following a four-day hunt, a one-ton crocodile that was terrorizing a village in Uganda has finally been caught. The hunt was conducted by the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA).
According to New Vision, UWA official Sulani Tumanya said that the crocodile is approximately 80-years-old and weighs very close to one-ton. It is just shy of the former world’s heaviest crocodile, Lolong.
Lolong was found in the Philippines and died in 2013 at the age of 50.
“Residents appealed to UWA to hunt the crocodile following the death of a resident from Kakira town council in Jinja district,” Tumanya said.
Tumanya said that the UWA used meat attached to a hook to lure the crocodile, which will be kept at the Murchison falls national park.

The crocodile is said to have killed at least one person and mauled multiple others on the waters of Lake Victoria. The clothing of the victim was found floating on top of the water.
The capture of the crocodile brought out hundreds of residents who wanted to watch UWA officials pull the crocodile from the water and transport it out of the area.
The other victims that it terrorized were fishermen who were attacked while honing their craft on the water.
