As an unexpected effect of the recession, commercial real estate lenders are taking on decision-making roles usually reserved for owners. For John Dewberry, owner of the prestigious Campanile tower, the shift in owner/lender relations resulted in his lender’s refusal to accept Morris, Manning & Martin, a Buckhead law firm, as a Campanile tenant. Dewberry continues to look for an anchor tenant for the $36 million tower.
