Hodgson Russ, the largest law firm in Buffalo, New York, has asked five lawyers and eight staff members in its headquarters office. The firm also made additional layoffs in other offices.

CEO Gary Schober says the Buffalo office was not alone in cutting staff, though he declined to offer specifics of how many were let go from the firm’s seven other offices.

However, following the largest summer associate program the firm has ever had, “[we] have made offers to eight new associates. While I believe that overall, hiring will be reduced at the attorney level, we are following through with our offer to hire those people in 2009.”
