Infosys Ltd has been sued by a former United States employee who is claiming harassment for exposing possible misuse of visas from the U.S. Infosys Ltd is the second-leading software services provider in India. The former employee, Satya Dev Tripuraneni, claims he was harassed by his supervisor after he accused the company of visa fraud. The lawsuit was filed in the Northern District of California on August 2.
“Shortly after Mr. Tripuraneni filed his complaint with the Infosys whistleblower team, per our policy, the company launched a comprehensive investigation of his allegations. That investigation is continuing,” Infosys said in a statement sent to Reuters. “As for comments on the legal matter, we are choosing to concentrate our attention and resources on the investigation.”
Tripuraneni claims that his former company would bill clients illegally for workers who were brought from India and charged the clients for taxes more than the legal charge. This lawsuit is the second of its kind. Another employee from the U.S. filed a lawsuit claiming retaliation after he said the company was misusing U.S. B1 visas. That lawsuit was filed by Jack Palmer, who works in Montgomery, Alabama. It was filed against the company, which has its headquarters in Bangalore. The lawsuit is scheduled to hit trial on August 20 and the company continues to deny any illegal activities.
