Litigators at BigLaw firms may find the pay rates and issues from other departments frustrating. Analysts say that litigation boutiques offer attorneys the same opportunities as BigLaw to represent top-tier clients in high-profile cases.

Many of these litigation boutiques are from BigLaw attorneys starting their own firms in order to escape the problems they faced at the big firms. Read about these eight litigation boutiques that have the talent to compete with BigLaw litigation departments.

Robbins Russell Englert Orseck Untereiner & Sauber LLP– There is 29 attorneys at this firm that have an excellent record with the U.S. Supreme Court. Some of their clients include Northrop Grumman Corp. and Bank of New York Mellon Corp.

Hangley Aronchick Segal Pudlin & Schiller– This firm has 50 attorneys. They are very selective about who they hire, adding to their highly-respected reputation. They look at graduates from the top-25 law schools and those that have a federal clerkship.

Keker & Van Nest LLP– The third largest firm in the U.S., Greenberg Traurig LLP turned to this firm to represent them when they received sanctions from a California federal court. They are regarded for their white collar defense. Some of their clients have been George Lucas, Lance Armstrong, and MLB teams.

Zuckerman Spaeder LLP– While the firm is more known for working with individuals over corporations such as former CEO of Massey Energy Co. Don Blankenship. Another individual the firm is working with is Zachary Warren, the former client relations manager at Dewey LeBoeuf LLP.

Petrillo Klein & Boxer LLP – This relatively new firm has 12 attorneys that excel at working against the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Lankler Siffert & Wohl LLP – This firm has nine partners but most of them have come from federal prosecutor positions. With their total of 22 attorneys, they are experienced with white collar defense and complex commercial litigation.

Kellogg Huber Hansen Todd Evans & Figel PLLC– The founders were former Mayer Brown LLP attorneys. They specialize in telecommunications litigation.
