Latham & Watkins LLP Adds Eight Energy Partners in Houston Office

Latham & Watkins LLP, a global law firm with approximately 2,000 attorneys in 29 offices, has added a group of attorneys with energy industry practices to its newly opened Houston office.

Eight attorneys make up the group – from Akin Gump LLP, corporate partners Michael Dillard and Michael Chambers, from Baker Botts LLP corporate partners Michael P. Darden, Sean Wheeler, William Finnegan, Charles Carpenter and Brett Braden, and from Vinson & Elkins LLP tax partner Timothy Fenn.

According to an announcement at the firm’s website, Robert M. Dell, Chairman and Managing Partner of Latham & Watkins, said: “This is an exciting development in the history of our firm and represents a significant growth area for our practice. Our presence in Houston, a widely recognized global energy hub, fits well with our continued focus on sophisticated energy sector work.”

Founded in 1934, Latham & Watkins has built internationally recognized practices in a wide spectrum of transactional, litigation, corporate and regulatory areas. The firm has also received praise for its innovative approach to law firm management and its pro bono work both on a local and global scale.
