Morrison & Foerster Brings on Lawrence Ceriello as Partner
Global business law firm Morrison & Foerster announced this morning that Lawrence Ceriello will be joining their New York City office as a real estate finance partner. Ceriello comes to MoFo with significant experience in originating loans backing commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS), and will be serving as a partner within the firm’s New York Real Estate Finance Group.
The last twenty years of Ceriello’s career has focused on originating large commercial real estate loans, with an emphasis on those geared towards the CMBS market. He also has dealt extensively with mezzanine debt, workouts of distressed real estate, and equity investments and the purchase, sale, restructuring and foreclosure of performing and non-performing commercial mortgage and mezzanine loans. Ceriello joins MoFo from the New York office of Nixon Peabody, where he was also a partner. Ceriello earned his J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law, and was ranked in 2013 Best Lawyers in America list in the category of real estate law.
Firm representatives said the Ceriello’s hiring is keyed into the continuing recovery of the commercial real estate market, and that Ceriello will help the firm maintain the growth of the real estate practices.
“Larry’s broad finance experience is a perfect fit for us,” said Mark Edelstein, chair of MoFo’s Real Estate Finance and Distressed Real Estate practices. “The lending markets are back up and running and liquidity is returning to the marketplace. As the recovery continues and the pace of CMBS originations grows, Larry’s experience will be invaluable. He brings longstanding relationships with leading financial institutions, including insurance companies, regional banks and other important participants in the market, and helps deepen the breadth of our already significant client base.“
