Former American Idol contestant Brittany Kerr issued an apology on Tuesday for her hookup with country star Jason Aldean. Kerr was being attacked on Twitter with messages calling her a ‘slut,’ a ‘homewrecker’ and a ‘tramp.’ The incident occurred Wednesday of last week at a bar in Hollywood. Photos surfaced of Kerr and Aldean getting pretty close at the bar, with one showing Aldean even leaning in for a kiss. Kerr’s apology is as follows:
“The actions I portrayed recently were not a representation of my true character, but a lapse in judgment on my part,” Kerr said, according to TMZ. “I would like to sincerely apologize to everyone that has been affected by this, including my friends & family.”

Aldean is married to high school sweetheart Jessica Ussery and is the father of two children. On Sunday, Aldean issued his own apology. The apology said, “Hey Guys – I wanted to talk to you directly, so you were hearing the truth from me and not just reading allegations made about my personal life on gossip web sites,” Aldean wrote on his WhoSay account.
“The truth is that I screwed up. I had too much to drink, let the party get out of hand and acted inappropriately at a bar. I left alone, caught the bus to our next show and that’s the end of the story.”
