DLA Piper, one of the largest legal service providers in the world, announced yesterday it will form an alliance with the law firm Campos Mello Advogados in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiroa.
A February report by Zeughauser Group, a Newport Beach, California, legal consulting firm, stated thirteen law firms based in the U.S., U.K. and Canada had offices in Brazil as of Jan. 15. In addition, the country’s central bank is forecasting 5.8 percent growth this year.
“Joining forces with Campos Mello Advogados is an important step in the advancement of our global strategy, which is to have a significant presence in the world’s leading and rapidly emerging economies,” said Francis B. Burch, Jr., Global Chairman of DLA Piper. “This collaboration gives us a go-to resource on the ground in Brazil, which will provide great value for our clients and a stream of referral business to our worldwide network. This arrangement is a great beginning for us in Latin America, but there is more to come in the near future.”
Campos Mello Advogados has lawyers specializing in corporate, finance, real estate, tax and litigation matters.
With more than 3,500 lawyers located in 29 countries and 67 offices, DLA Piper Group is an alliance of independent law firms with exclusive agreements with DLA Piper.
