Portland, Maine based labor & employment law firm Moss Shapiro has just announced its merger with Atlanta law firm Fisher & Phillips.
The merger will allow Moss Shapiro to increase its client base and serve its clients who operation in multiple states better, according to Jonathan Shapiro, the firm’s manager partner.
“It will give us a deeper bench, to put into sports terms,” said Shapiro. “In terms of our numbers and in terms of the experience and knowledge base we can offer clients all over the country.”
Layoffs are not expected to occur due to the merger. It is possible that the Portland office could be adding additional employees.
The firm will now be known under the Fisher & Phillips name, and will become the law firm’s first office in New England.
Fisher & Phillips has 21 offices around the country and staffs more than 200 lawyers.
