Hogan Lovells Bolsters Their Force with Former SEC Lawyer

Hogan Lovells has announced it brought on board a Securities and Exchange Commission veteran. He will be joining their Washington office where he will tap his SEC experience with his focus on REITS and IPOs.

“His expertise in federal securities law, combined with his corporate transactional background and securities regulatory experience, will be a huge addition to our Corporate team, both in the REIT area and more broadly,” said Warren Gorrell, co-CEO of Hogan Lovells.

McTiernan kicked off his career after grabbing his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. He then went on to work as an associate with an international law firm in New York before moving on to become the Chief Counsel on interpretive issues related to the Securities Act, and most recently, Assistant Director of the Real Estate Group.

Such firms as Hogan hope in such moves to pick up talent that has been scrupulously preened by the intense atmosphere such as the SEC has to offer, thus bringing in hot talent to their private law firm. With a global legal practice spanning worldwide, such strategic moves keep the blood of their business vibrant and vital.

“Hogan Lovells has a highly-respected Corporate practice, and is a market leader in the REIT sector,” said McTiernan, accounting for his choice of the firm. “I’m looking forward to bringing my experience in this market to the team and our clients and helping the firm expand its practice.”
