Soldier Watches over Video Chat as his Wife is Stabbed

Justin Poole was stationed overseas, but kept in contact with his wife over video chat. Imagine his horror, then, when, while talking with his 9-months pregnant wife, Rachel Poole, 31, he was made to helplessly watch while a hidden attacker in her home approached her from behind and stabbed her repeatedly with a stainless steel knife.

The soldier called Rachel’s coworkers to alert them, and Rachel meanwhile, not only fought off her attacker to preserve the life, if she could, of her unborn infant, but she boldly called out the name of her assailant, so that her husband would report it if she died.

The man who had hid in her house and waited for his moment to attack was a soldier on the base, 19-year-old Corey Bernard Moss, who was upset that Rachel owed him money for car repairs.

A steel knife was found in his car upon his arrest, and he has been put in jail with bail set at $60,000.

Rachel meanwhile was forced to have scheduled C-section a week early, for, as the doctors said, they couldn’t “do anything with [her] injuries unless they got Isabella out, as Gary Jones, her step-father said, and as ABC News reported.

The child indeed survived the assault, and also the birth, but the mother meanwhile is still in difficult shape, and may need eye socket reconstruction. She also had a vertebrae misplaced and a lung collapsed. Her husband posted pictures of his recovering wife and newborn baby on Facebook, and is grateful, of course, that she survived.
