Bride Pulls Pistol on Husband Hours after Wedding

Summary: A newlywed bride pulled a gun on her new husband during an alcohol-fueled argument just hours after their wedding.

Happily ever after didn’t quite turn out the way this Tennessee couple expected. Just hours after exchanging their vows, the bride pulled a gun on her new husband. Officers were called to the disturbance outside a Murfreesboro motel.

The postnuptial dispute, reported by The Smoking Gun, between 25-year-old Kate Elizabeth Prichard and 30-year-old James Jarid Burton aka J-Rod, was fueled by alcohol. Prichard removed a 9mm pistol from her wedding dress and aimed it directly at her spouse.

Cops arrived soon after 1 AM at the Clarion Inn to find Prichard, still in her wedding dress, and Burton. The couple denied that there was anything wrong between them but witnesses at the scene contradicted their story. Interviews of the witnesses uncovered the truth and that a gun was involved.

The Murfreesboro Police Department report states that the officers went onto the search for a gun since they had reports of one being used but neither the bride nor groom was in possession of one when they arrived.

The police allege that during the quarrel between the bride and groom, Prichard pulled the gun from her dress and pointed it at Burton’s head. She pulled the trigger but the gun was not loaded. Prichard then placed a round into the chamber and fired a shot up into the air. This prompted those around the scatter and call the police.

A spent shell was found outside the motel and her gun was found inside the motel bathroom where she had hidden the handgun after shooting it.

Police arrested Prichard for aggravated domestic assault. She was booked into the Rutherford County jail on the felony charge. She was released after posting $15,000 bond.

Prichard and J-Rod were a happy couple once upon a time. Just the month before their wedding, she got a tattoo in her lower abdomen area that declared “Property of J-Rod.” A June 27 Facebook post by Prichard states, “Happiest I have been, finally get to be real,” in reference to the tattoo and impending wedding. In the photo caption of her new tattoo, Burton noted, “Yes it’s official. I love her crazy ass.”

Burton, a member of the Rebels motorcycle club, has a criminal record. He was arrested in 2015 for shooting a member of a rival motorcycle club, Subdued Few, in the foot inside of the Subdued Few’s clubhouse. He had been charged with aggravated assault, which is a felony, but pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of reckless endangerment. The shooting of Carl Barber in Dyersburg, Tennessee where Burton was held in the Montgomery County Jail on $250,000 bond.
