Summary: Violence broke out at Donald Trump’s recent rally in Costa Mesa, California.

Donald Trump’s critics say his bombastic rhetoric divides people, and evidence of that could be seen last night in California. According to Fox News, 20 Trump protestors were arrested following chaos at a rally in Costa Mesa. The local police confirmed the arrests and said there were no major injuries.

On Thursday, Trump spoke to 18,000 supporters at the Pacific Amphitheater, where dozens of protestors had congregated as well. Before his speech, some of the haters were met by supporters who taunted them. For instance, one man waving a Mexican flag was surrounded by Trump lovers who shouted “Build that wall!” referencing Trump’s promise to create a barrier between the U.S. and Mexico to stop illegal immigration.

When the rally was over, the Trump protestors turned the tables and got violent. One man was filmed jumping on top of a police car, and a Trump supporter was allegedly punched in the face. Other protestors sprayed graffiti on a cop car and the theater’s marquee.

The numbers of protestors grew by the end of the night, and several hundred of them ended up blocking the road, preventing supporters from leaving the event. They waved Mexican flags before police in riot gear pushed them back. Three hours after the event was over, the crowd eventually dispersed.

Protestors told the Los Angeles Times that they took to the streets to fight against Trump’s remarks about Mexican immigrants. To recap, the Republican presidential frontrunner had stated that Mexico didn’t send over their best, instead they sent over “rapists” and “criminals.”

Trump’s negative portrayals of minority groups such as Mexicans, women, and Muslims have amazingly won over fans of all races and both genders across the country. His supporters love that he isn’t a typical politician and that he says whatever he wants, but Trump critics note that his hateful speech brings out violence and conflict. After all, Thursday’s violent protest was not the only incident of fighting at a Trump event. His Chicago rally was cancelled due to threats of violence, and in April, we reported that a 78-year-old Trump fan sucker punched a protestor, saying later he was proud he did it.
