Littler Mendelson Enters the European Market

Summary: Littler Mendelson acquires labor and employment law boutique, Vangard.

Vangard, a leading labor and employment law boutique in Germany, had offices in Berlin, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, and Munich with 21 lawyers. These lawyers have now been added to the ranks of Littler Mendelson, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice.

The firm’s foray into Europe is part of a long-term, strategic growth plan. Littler opened its first Canadian office in Toronto just over a month ago. Co-managing directors of Littler, Jeremy Roth and Tom Bender, said in a statement, “Over the past two years, we have expanded into nearly a dozen new international markets as our clients have increasingly sought a single source provider of employment law counsel in the many countries in which they operate. Establishing our first foothold in Europe through a firm with a strong reputation for providing innovative and cutting-edge counsel to German and international clients is a perfect foundation to set as we continue to build out our presence in the global market.”

Littler is now located on three continents – Europe, North America and South America. While they do not have an office on every continent, they have lawyers that are dually licensed in Australia, Brazil, China, the United Kingdom, South America, and more to make up for the lack of physical offices.
