NYLS Introduces the Innovation Center for Law and Technology

Summary: The Innovation Center will be a place for legal students, professionals, and others to come together to teach and learn about the hot topics in the industries.

New York Law School’s new academic center will be a place for law students, entrepreneurs, tech users, academics, and legal practitioners to come together and learn, lead, benefit, and shape the innovation of the science, media, and technology industries. The Innovation Center for Law and Technology or Innovation Center will be directed by professor Ari Ezra Waldman. The center will focus on privacy, intellectual property, fashion law, sports law, entrepreneurship, and cybersecurity.

The Center will stand as a key feature for the Law School and New York City. The Center is located within the technology corridor where the Law School is committed to growing their legal talent. The strategy of the Law School is to match their curriculum and programs to the needs of the legal industry and changing global marketplace.

The Center will take in the Law School’s Institute for Information Law and Policy and mold it into a new program. The Intellectual Property Institute will teach law students how to defend intangible assets from areas of entertainment law to patents. Others projects include the Online Privacy Project, the Community Entrepreneurship Institute, the Fashion Law Initiative, Diversity 4.0, and the Sports Law Symposium.
