Lena Dunham Enraged over Molestation Accusations

Summary: Lena Dunham has taken to Twitter to defend herself after a website hinted that she sexually abused her younger sister when she was a little girl.

Lena Dunham, of HBO’s “Girls” fame, recently published a book called “Not That Kind of Girl,” in which she shares a series of essays on her life and the journey through womanhood. One such essay included a childhood story that led to accusations that Dunham abused her baby sister when she was a child. According to the Huffington Post, National Review columnist Kevin D. Williamson, as well as the Truth Revolt website, both posted stories implying that Dunham had engaged in inappropriate acts with her younger sister. The Truth Revolt article refers to “sexual experimentation” with Dunham’s sister.

Dunham is livid over the allegations. On November 1, she tweeted, “The right wing news story that I molested my little sister isn’t just LOL—it’s really f*cking upsetting and disgusting.”

What story led to these disturbing accusations? When Dunham was just seven years old, she was asking her mother questions about the female body, such as whether all women have uteruses. Dunham had a one-year-old sister named Grace at the time of the story. “Does her vagina look like mine?” Dunham asks her mother, referring to Grace. “I guess so. Just smaller,” her mother replies.

At some time later, Dunham and her baby sister were playing outside, and, Dunham’s “curiosity got the best of [her]” and she decided to spread apart her little sister’s vagina. In fact, Grace had actually pushed a few pebbles up into her vagina, which caused Dunham to cry out for her mother. Unfazed, her mother removed the pebbles and went about her day, not even questioning how Dunham had made such a discovery.

Dunham also tweeted, “And by the way, if you were a little kid and never looked at another little kid’s vagina, well congrats to you.” Four minutes later, she added, “I told a story about being a weird 7 year old. I bet you have some too, old men, that I’d rather not hear. And yes, this is a rage spiral.”

Truth Revolt initially reported that Dunham was 17 at the time she “abused” her little sister, but has since corrected their story. Dunham has also sent a cease and desist letter to the website, demanding that the article be removed.
