Victim in Stephen Collins’ Child Molestation Case Will Not Sue

Summary: Stephen Collins will face neither criminal nor civil charges for allegedly molesting three victims decades ago.

It looks like former “7th Heaven” star Stephen Collins is off the hook for any civil or criminal charges related to his recently surfaced child molestation confession. The main victim who was molested by Collins told TMZ that she will not sue the actor in a civil lawsuit.

An audiotape recorded during a therapy session with Collins’ wife captured the confession. Collins confessed that he repeatedly sexually abused this victim. He stated that he once put her hand on his semi-erect penis. The incident occurred in the 1970s, but the victim did not come forward to the police until 2012. At that point, the New York Police Department decided to launch an investigation into the victim’s allegations.

The victim is now in her 50s. She explained that she is not going to sue Collins for monetary damages because she is not after his wealth. She stated that her purpose in coming forward after decades of silence was to encourage other victims to come forward if they have suffered abuse. The victim feels that Collins may have molested others more recently, and that perhaps he will be prosecuted for his actions.

The woman was cooperative with the NYPD, and also contacted the Los Angeles Police Department to warn them about Collins’ behavior and to alert them that he is a sexual predator.

Unfortunately, for the three cases of sexual abuse that Collins confessed to, they are so old that law enforcement agencies state that they cannot prosecute Collins for them.
