Humorous Lawyer Video: Typo

Summary: A humorous video parodying associate life at a law firm, and the props one gets for finding a typo.

In episode 3 of his comedy about life in a law firm, Rick Eid riffs on the unimportance of associates in influencing deals or cases. The video begins with a few lawyers scanning and reviewing documents, upon which their boss, played by Michael B. Silver, intrudes and gives them a pep talk to pick up the pace, interrogating them whether they were depressed. After he leaves, one of the associates tells our main character, Nick, that finding a typo can bring you rockstar status.

Nick is to realize this prospect when he finds a “significant typo” between two numbers: he is lauded by his boss, and soon everybody in the office is congratulating him and calling him a “rockstar.”

As Eid explains on his website, his legal experience suggests that at firms, “one little screw up and you’re dead. On the other hand, if you actually find a typo or two, and your boss…is in a good mood, you’re suddenly a hero.”

The clip ends with Nick bringing his bravura to a blind date, who is played by Jen Lyon, a semi-finalist on Survivor. Nick brags about his rockstar status for discovering the typo, and his date reacts in a way somebody outside the legal field might react.
