Zimmerman at it Again: Domestic Violence

George Zimmerman, the Hispanic man who roiled the nation and divided us over the racially charged issue of whether he should be held responsible for shooting to death black youth Trayvon Martin, can’t seem to stay out of trouble. Though he was finally acquitted of all charges involved in the Trayvon shooting, as of July, it seems his innate violent tendencies keep coming out. The latest regard domestic violence against his girlfriend.

As TMZ reported, she is pregnant. Zimmerman allegedly leveled a shotgun at his girlfriend and ordered her out of the house. Once she left, he locked her out and barricaded the door with furniture.

Whatever your opinions about Trayvon’s death, these actions sound unbalanced, and one wonders if he is merely cracking up from all the media hate against him, or whether Zimmerman really is a jerk.

When police came to answer his girlfriend’s phone call – this all went down about 1:30 p.m. Monday in Seminole Country Florida – they used her key and their force to open the door.

Within, Zimmerman was compliant and passive, perhaps from familiarity with such scenes. After all, a similar incident happened with his ex-wife, ending up with both of them applying for restraining orders against each other.

Whatever the case, Zimmerman is far from fine. The anger-management classes he had to take in 2005 have not quite sunken in, and if anything is going to save him at this point it will perhaps have to be a religious or philosophical awakening.
