Manatt, Phelps, & Phillips has picked up one of their most interesting partners yet. Kathleen Brown, who has gained over two decades experience in the financial services industry working for Goldman Sachs, aside from working with the municipal utilities in California with over $5 billion of water and power bond financing, and meanwhile running as the Democrative nominee for California governor in 1994, is coming to Manatt’s Los Angeles office, though she will also spend time at their New York and San Francisco office, where she will focus on business counseling, government, and regulatory affairs, with particular emphasis on healthcare, energy, and financial service industries.

Sure to mention that Brown is bringing excellence to excellence, Quicksilver is alluding to her senior leadership roles for the last 12 years at Goldman; she also served as president of the Private Bank for the Bank of American, and held senior positions otherwise from 1995 to 2001, serving as well on the boards over CalPERS and CalSTRES, two of the nation’s largest pensions funds.
