The star of Disney’s “The Famous Jett Jackson” was found dead inside his North Hollywood home with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His publicist issued the statement, “ it is with great sadness that I announce that Lee Thompson Young tragically took his own life this morning. Lee was more than just a brilliant young actor, he was a wonderful and gentle soul who will truly be missed,” according to TMZ.
29 year old Young was an actor on the TNT show Rizzoli & Isles when he didn’t show up at work on Monday morning. At that point, staffers called his landlord and his landlord found his body. Family, friends, fans and coworkers still working on the set are all devastated to hear of Young’s passing.
The executive producer of the last show he was working on commented, “we are beyond heartbroken at the loss of this sweet, gentle, good-hearted, intelligent man. He was truly a member of our family.” She goes on to say that he was positive, full of energy, with a smile that brightened the people around him. She offers her condolences to his family and friends and fans, but especially to his mother.
The young actor had a career in television and several films. Interested in film from his childhood, the young man worked on the films Johnny Tsunami, Johnny Kapahala: Back on Board, Friday Night Lights, and Jamie Foxx’s movie Redemption: The Stan Tookie Williams Story. He appeared on various TV shows, like CBS’s The guardian, or UPN’s TV drama South Beach. He appeared on the famous show Smallville several times as well as the hit comedy Scrubs. Lee had graduated with honors from the University of Southern California and was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi. He enjoyed writing and wrote the screenplay for the 2007 short film Mano. He will be mourned and missed by flocks of his fans, as well as his friends and family.
