Kim Kardashian Requests Date Change for Trial; Is Denied by Judge

According to an exclusive report from RadarOnline.com, Kim Kardashian tried to change the start date for her divorce trial with estranged husband Kris Humphries. She asked to have the trial date changed because she has an appearance booked in New York City for the same day. The judge denied her request.

Laura Wasser, the attorney for Kim, claims, “Kim Kardashian respectfully requests that the trial start one day earlier, on May 3, 2013, instead of on May 6, 2013, and that there be no trial on May 6 due to her unavailability on May 6. Kim Kardashian has a previously scheduled engagement in New York City on May 6. I was not aware of Kim Kardashian’s May 6, 2013, out of town engagement when the matter was set for trial.”

Benjamin Johnson, the lawyer for Humphries, objected to the date change of the trial, claiming that it was Kim herself who picked the date.

“It is my understanding that Kris Humphries is unavailable to begin trial on May 3, 2013,” he wrote in his response. “It is also my understanding that counsel for Respondent Lee Hutton is unavailable to begin trial on May 3, 2013. Counsel for Petitioner Kimberly Kardashian specifically requested the May 6, 2013 trial start date back in February.”

The judge, Scott Gordon, agreed with Humphries and ordered that the trial begin on May 6, with the proceedings taking at least one week. Wasser claims, “Kimberly Kardashian’s efforts since this case was set for trial to settle this mater have not been successful.”

In related news, TMZ reports that Kim will not be in attendance for the first day of the trial, but she does not need to be there anyway. Kris is due up first in calling witnesses in the trial because he has the burden of proving fraud in the annulment request. Kim will not be on the stand until the second or third day of the trial.
