Connecticut Man Fires and Kills Masked Burglar – Finds It Was His Own Son

On Friday, a Connecticut man who went to help his sister in the middle of the night in response to her calls for help during an apparent burglary, shot and killed the masked intruder, only to find it was his own teenage son, Tyler Giuliano. The identity of the man has not been disclosed by police authorities.

The man’s sister, who lives next door, alone, woke up at around 1 a.m. to find a masked intruder trying to break in. She phoned his brother to report and call for help. In response to his sister’s pleas, the man went to investigate and found a man dressed in black wearing a ski mask, and holding something shiny in his hand.

The police said in their statement, “believing the suspect was armed with a weapon and about to attack him, the (father) discharged his personal handgun at the suspect.” Giuliano died on the spot. The police report, “(He) was lying on the ground in the driveway with obvious gunshot injuries, holding a weapon.”

The police are investigating why the teen, who has no criminal history, was trying to break into his aunt’s home at night incognito and wearing a mask.

Lieutenant J. Paul Vance, a spokesman for the Connecticut State Police said on possible motives of the teenager, “We truly don’t know. We’ll look at the family dynamics, (his) school locker, cell phone, computer to figure out what’s going on.”

The law enforcement has seized the gun of the man and are currently investigating whether it is registered, and consulting with the state’s attorney over filing charges.

Bad and sad. One day, there was this happy brother and sister, with the brother caring and protecting his sister who lives alone, and the next day and forever, the brother becomes the killer of his own son, and the sister would be blaming herself over her nephew’s death.
