California Suspends Amanda Bynes’ Driver’s License

Amanda Bynes has had her driver’s license suspended by the state of California, according to the California Department of Motor Vehicles. On April 6, Bynes struck the cruiser of an L.A. County Sheriff’s Department officer in West Hollywood. In that incident she was charged with drunk driving. Earlier this week, two brand new charges were filed for hit-and-run, and then the license was suspended. Officials from the DMV would not say if those charges led to the license suspension or not.

On April 6, Bynes was arrested at 3 a.m. in West Hollywood. Police claim that her BMW hit the back corner of the Sheriff’s Department vehicle. Bynes was then charged with driving under the influence. On Twitter, Bynes denied the claims against her, saying, “I can’t help but laugh at all of you writing fake stories about me. I was not in any hit and runs. I don’t drink so the DUI is false.” Through an attorney, Bynes pled not guilty.

On Tuesday of this week, Bynes was charged with two separate hit-and-run incidents that took place on April 10 and then on August 4. One victim claims that in August, her Toyota was rear-ended by Bynes on Ventura Boulevard. The victim said that Bynes stopped momentarily, said there was no damage, and then left the scene. According to Lt. Andrew Neiman of the Los Angeles Police Department, Bynes did not offer insurance information or stay long enough for police to arrive. Officers said that Bynes claimed that she and the woman agreed that there was no damage. The Toyota actually had $800 in damage, according to investigators.

After Bynes was charged with her initial DUI incident, she sent a tweet to President Barack Obama. The tweet said, “Hey @BarackObama… I don’t drink. Please fire the cop who arrested me. I also don’t hit and run. The end.”
