According to her father, Amanda Bynes was not drunk when she was arrested for DUI on Friday, just very emotional.

“She was not drunk,” Rick Bynes said in an interview. “I was told that she blew a zero on the Breathalyzer. She didn’t have a single drink that night. My daughter doesn’t drink.”

Rick Bynes said that the Sheriff’s deputy who arrested Amanda Bynes on Friday was in the wrong because he pulled in front of Amanda when she was making a turn at an intersection in West Hollywood.

“She was upset and very emotional,” and that’s why she was taken into custody, Rick Bynes said.

“She is a good girl. She just chooses not to work, and because of that, people go after her,” he said.

Police said Bynes was arrested during pre-dawn hours after her black BMW swiped a cop car in what is being called a DUI arrest. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said that Bynes ‘attempted to pass to the right’ of a black and white cruiser that was stopped and getting ready to make a right turn. Police officers claim that she hit the police car around 3 a.m.

“She went to try to go around the police vehicle,” Sgt. Michael Arriaga said. “It was minor damage, paint transfer on both vehicles.”

The arresting deputy decided that Bynes, 26, was not fit to drive as the investigation into the collision was taking place. Jail records claim that Bynes was booked and then released. Police officers also said that no one involved in the accident was injured. In her mugshot, Bynes had on full makeup and long, pin-straight pinkish-grey hair.

There have been various rumors regarding where Bynes was prior to her accident and subsequent arrest. Some rumors placed her at the Greystone Manor Supperclub while other rumors placed her at the Standard Hotel on Sunset Boulevard. It was also reported that Bynes returned to the Standard just hours following her release from jail but was then turned away by staff members there. The bouncer who turned Bynes and her friends away was worried that there would be a repeat problem. Bynes left without any problems.

In June of 2010, Bynes announced via Twitter that she was planning on retiring from acting, shocking her fans and making headlines.

“Being an actress isn’t as fun as it may seem,” she wrote. “If I don’t love something anymore, I stop doing it. I don’t love acting anymore, so I’ve stopped doing it,” she wrote.

“I’ve unretired,” she tweeted roughly one month later.
