David Walgren, Prosecutor in Conrad Murray Case, Applies to become a Judge

The Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney from the Dr. Conrad Murray case, David Walgren, has announced his intentions to become the next L.A. county Superior Court Judge. If you recall, Murray was the personal doctor for Michael Jackson. Walgren is respected and recognized as one of the best, if not the best, prosecutors in all of Los Angeles County. It has been reported that he submitted his application for the judge position to the office of the Governor, which is being taken seriously. Governor Jerry Brown could be sending Walgren a black robe very soon.

Walgren has an extensive legal history prosecuting cases. Back in 2009, Walgren wrote the argument filed against Roman Polanski, the fugitive trying to acquire a dismissal of a case against him from 1977 regarding sex with minors.

Walgren was responsible for prosecuting photographer John Rutter back in 2005 for forgery, attempted grand theft and perjury. Rutter put together a scheme that involved selling topless photos of Cameron Diaz back to her for millions of dollars. The photos were taken prior to Diaz becoming a star when she was 19.

Walgren is a 1995 alum of UC Davis, King Hall School of Law. Walgren began his career as a Los Angeles Deputy District Attorney as soon as he graduated from law school. At the start of his career he prosecuted misdemeanors, juvenile cases and felonies. Walgren is a member of the Major Crimes Unit. He worked on the Hardcore Gang Unit from 2000 to 2005.
