Bryan Cave Set to Swallow Up Holme Roberts

St. Louis’ Holme Roberts & Owen and Bryan Cave LLP will merge together their practices, which will expand the reach of Bryan Cave by opening up doors in the western United States. It will also open up doors in natural resources, energy and sports law, giving the firm a larger opportunities of clients.

The merger plans to go into effect beginning January 1, 2012. When finalized, the merger will elevate Bryan Cave to be within the top 25 largest firms throughout the entire world. It will have 30 offices across the globe, employing well over 1,000 lawyers on staff. Bryan Cave will also become a full-service firm in Colorado, that only international full-service firm in that area.

Holme Roberts is a 113-year-old firm. It is headquartered in Denver, Colorado and also has offices in the cities of Dublin, London, San Francisco, Boulder, Salt Lake City, Colorado Springs and Salt Lake City. Holme Roberts reaches into a variety of business industries including: mining, natural resources, energy, technology industries and telecommunications. It has also had recent expansion into environmental law and security transactions.

Bryan Cave also underwent a recent expansion over the course of the last month. It maintains an overall strategy to broaden its reach into Germany substantially. The firm announces that a Frankfurt, Germany office is opening, making it the second office from the firm in the country. This will go a long way to expand its legal team throughout the country over the next five years, which is a part of its overall plan.

It has been a busy year for law firm mergers this year. The year 2010 only had 39 mergers. However, this year has had 55 different mergers.
