King & Spalding Announces a New Partner as it Expands Government Investigations Practice in California

King & Spalding LLP, a leading international firm for over 125 years, announced the addition of Ross W. Nadel, a prominent Bay Area federal prosecutor, to join their firm beginning in January 2011. Nadel will be based in the firm’s offices in San Francisco and Silicon Valley and will handle the firm’s government and corporate internal investigations in the areas of securities fraud, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, off-label promotion and healthcare fraud, and criminal antitrust and cartel matters. The firm said that Nadel’s expertise will make a big impact in the expansion of its government investigations practice in the state of California.

Christopher A. Wray, chair of King & Spalding’s special matters and government investigations practice, expressed his excitement over Nadel’s decision to join the firm. “We are excited Ross is joining our team. The knowledge, experience and skill he brings with him will anchor and significantly expand our government investigations and white-collar criminal defense footprint onto the West Coast. With more than 25 years’ experience of distinguished service at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern and Eastern Districts of California, plus additional work in private and corporate practice, Ross has a reputation as one of the most respected government investigation practitioners in the Bay Area.”

Nadel, who worked in the San Francisco US Attorney’s Office, said that he chose King & Spalding because of its reputation in the industry. “I am very pleased to join the talented lawyers in King & Spalding’s special matters practice, whose national reputation and spirit of cross-office teamwork are especially appealing to me. Having made the decision at this point in my career to return to a law firm to pursue a full-range government investigations and white-collar criminal defense practice, I cannot think of a better place to be than at King & Spalding.”
