DLA Piper Snags Practice Head from Greenberg Traurig

DLA Piper has a new chair of its defense and government services transactional practice in Washington D.C. Taking over the position is Jeffrey R. Houle, who joins the firm from Greenberg Traurig, where he was co-managing shareholder of that firm’s Northern Virginia office and chair of its regional corporate practice group.

Houle represents middle market and Fortune 500 companies on merger and acquisition and financing transactions in a wide variety of industries impacted by government policy and regulation, including government and defense contractors, energy, technology, mining and mineral extraction, telecommunications, financial services, and manufacturing.

“Jeff is a nationally recognized, seasoned practitioner with a deep pool of contacts and client relationships within the government services and defense contractor areas,” said Jay Smith, co-chair of DLA Piper’s Corporate and Finance practice. “DLA Piper’s global platform is a good match for Jeff’s practice, and his arrival will undoubtedly bolster our already strong corporate group in the US and internationally.”

Houle has served on the board of directors and advisory boards of numerous companies, private equity funds and investment banking firms, as well as the Washington D.C. Technology Council.

DLA Piper has 3,500 attorneys in 30 countries and 69 offices throughout the US, UK, Continental Europe, Middle East and Asia.
