The Birds and the Bees and the 38DDs

What’s the right way to teach your kids about sex?  Most people fumble through a rambling explanation of the mechanics of it, followed by an admonition that it should be about love and usually leaving out the part about how it’s fun.  Some parents buy books for their kids and that’s alright.  But what do you do when a father decides the best way to teach his 8 and 9 year old daughters about sex is to show them live webcam action where he is sending directions to the woman on the computer?  Randall County District Attorney James Farren is faced with this dilemma.  It is neither illegal to possess or look at adult pornography.  There is a 1973 law on the books in Texas which would allow Farren to prosecute IF it hadn’t been the father showing the girls the porn.  The law specifically excludes prosecution when the child is accompanied by a consenting parent.

The girls’ mother is now looking to change the custody agreement with the court, which may allow Farren some latitude in his child endangerment case against the father.

Randall County, in the Texas Panhandle, has 65 religious congregations serving it’s 114,000 residents.  While the area is conservative and has voted Republican since 1954, they also tend not to want government intervention into what they deem as private matters.  Farren might just be more successful in his prosecution of the father if he charges him with being stupid.
