Obama to Sign Order That Bans Discrimination of Gays View Count: 414

President Barack Obama will sign an executive order that will ban federal contractors from discriminating against employees based on their sexual orientation, according to a White House official who spoke with NBC News. Close to one quarter of the workforce in the country is made up of federal workers.

“Following on his pledge for this to be a year of action to expand opportunity for all Americans, the President has directed his staff to prepare for his signature an Executive Order that prohibits federal contractors from discriminating on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity,” the official said. “The action would build upon existing protections, which generally prohibit federal contractors and subcontractors from discriminating in employment decisions on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.”

The announcement was made one day before President Obama is set to travel to New York for the Democratic National Committee’s annual gay and lesbian gala fundraiser. Obama has been pressed in the past by fundraisers involving LGBT donors to extend the discrimination protections to federal employees.

According to the LA Times, Human Rights Campaign President Chad Griffin said, “By issuing an executive order, the president will not only create fairer workplaces across the country, he will demonstrate to Congress that adopting federal employment protections for [lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender] people is good policy and good for business.”

Peter Sprigg is a policy analyst with the Family Research Council. Sprigg said, “While the president prepares to address a New York gathering of gay rights supporters, the American people will be left to sort out the costs to religious and constitutional liberties resulting from this executive order.”

This violates the human rights under natural law for a free moral conscience and the religious liberty of people who adhere to a normative morality. The immoral now discriminate against the moral in the U.S. using the government because Obama says it’s OK to do so.

  • Yui Daoren

Sorry, chucklehead, but you have no right to force personal morality on others. Unless, of course, you think it would be appropriate for me to fire all the Christians I have working for me because I find their religion morally reprehensible.

  • Jason Callahan

There is no such thing as a natural law of free moral conscience. The only normative morality we have is that set unto law which has, nor should, anything to do with religion. Do what Jesus would do and love. Mind your own business and don’t gossip.

  • D_Smith2020

Your ad hominem belies your poor character and unfortunately you now have the right to force your personal immorality on others revealing the hypocrisy of your position. But this isn’t about Yui firing every moral person in his company because he only wants people who define themselves by the immoral behaviors they engage in (and make no mistake normative immorality and normative morality are not equitable to the same thing), this is about the government discriminating against religious organizations by denying them access to government contracts unless they facilitate immoral behaviors that are intractably incompatible with the normative morality they adhere to. It’s blatant discrimination, a violation of their human rights, and a violation of their religious liberty. What do you call a supporter of tyranny against the moral and the propagator of immorality: a wicked tyrant. That’s what you are.

  • Yui Daoren

You poor creature. I made no ad hominem (that’s the fallacy of invalidating an argument based on the character of the arguer, which I did not do. Instead, I just called you a chucklehead, because you are.)

You are a tyrant, forcing those who do not believe as you do to comply with your weak law-giver authoritarian morality. I am not a tyrant as I let others make their choices and deal with the consequences themselves.

I mean, if God is big enough to let people do things he considers immoral and then face the consequences, why aren’t you?

  • LibertyMonger

    And don’t be gay

  • D_Smith2020

Negative. You are a tyrant for depriving moral people their human right under natural law to a free moral conscience and those who are religious their religious liberty toward a normative morality. But you’re a hypocrite too because you state that morality cannot be forced on immoral people but immorality can be forced on moral people. You’re a genuine hypocrite for doing that. So you’re a hypocritical immoral tyrant operating misusing the government to deprive moral people their human rights and religious liberty on behalf of immoral people. Glad I won’t be there when you have to give an account for your wicked life and attempting to defile even little children with your perversions.

  • Yui Daoren

Wow. It took you 11 days to just repeat the same claptrap again. Maybe you need new batteries.
