The paparazzi are idiots. Yes, we get that. So when a paparazzo was tailing Justin Bieber’s white Ferrari, with Justin’s part friend rapper Lil Twist driving and Justin left at the Four Seasons on Tuesday afternoon, the potential for problems was palpable. Lil Twist, a Lil Wayne protégé, had, according to TMZ, been hanging out with Justin for weeks. He got pulled over by California Highway Patrol, for speeding on 405; he pulled off the free way unto Sepulveda Blvd.
The paparazzo took this golden opportunity to leave his car and snap some up close pictures of whoever was pulled over in Bieber’s car. He was twice directed to return to his car, but continued to snap. When crossing back over, he was hit by an oncoming vehicle and killed.
Justin released a statement which said “Hopefully this tragedy will finally inspire meaningful legislation and whatever other necessary steps to pretext the lives and safety of celebrities, police officers, innocent public bystanders, and the photographers themselves.” Not exactly an empathic moment to take to the soapbox, and certainly mistaken. If Diane’s death didn’t stop the paparazzi, the death of one of their own won’t change things.
