Robert Ballard on Quest to Prove Biblical Flood and Noah’s Ark Real

ABC’s Christiane Amanpour recently interviewed underwater explorer Robert Ballard, who is planning to prove the existence of one of the most popular stories in the Bible. Ballard discovered the Titanic and talked with Amanpour about his search in Turkey for evidence of the flood that swept away an entire civilization.

“We went in there to look for the flood,” Ballard said. “Not just a slow moving, advancing rise of sea level, but a really big flood that then stayed… The land that went under stayed under.”

According to PBS, geologists William Ryan and Walter Pitman gathered evidence that shows a flood could have occurred roughly 7,500 years ago in the Middle East. That evidence was gathered by the two men in the decade of the 1990s.

The theory says that the Mediterranean Sea pushed a channel through the Bosphorus, which submerged the original shoreline of the Black Sea. The water flowed 200 times that of Niagara Falls and extended for 100,000 square miles.

National Geographic said that Ballard has been working on this theory for over 10 years now after he discovered a submerged shoreline back in 1999. This did not prove anything to Ballard, until his team discovered a vessel and one of its crew members in the Black Sea last year.

Hang on, though: that’s not true at all. In no way is Ballard seeking to vindicate the story of Noah’s Ark; simply to determine whether the story may have had some basis in an actual event.

According to Genesis 8:4, it came to rest “in the mountains of Ararat.” Experts have agreed that these mountains are to be located in present-day Armenia and eastern Turkey. This is an interesting find even if it has nothing to do with Noah’s Arc.

The Oriental Institute of Chicago even has a few of the nails from Noah’s Ark. Do they know it? Don’t forget, the book of Enoch refers to the Watchers giving people knowledge of metalworking.

International artist, art historian and sleuth archaeologist, researched the existence of Noah when asked by Holocaust survivors to create an exhibition on the lineage of the Jewish people called “The Light o Truth” (Online: marcrubin.com/or.ivnu )

Rubin wrote a 4 part interactive web essay called “Finding Noah” where he compiled his research into an amazing case for Noah, including the argument that Gobekli Tepe, in Turkey, was Noah (and family’s) house they built after the Flood. AMAZING article. marcrubin.com/noah-index.ivnu

Marc also discusses his research in an Israel National Radio interview: marcrubin.com/judean-eve.ivnu
