California Governor Jerry Brown has made the teaching of gay history in schools mandatory. This was done keeping in mind the contribution made by gays to the U.S. and California’s development. This step was taken despite vehement opposition by the Republicans and in its defense, it was said that instead of viewing this as gay history, it should be viewed as United States history.
