It’s a bad day to be a lawyer in the UK.
West End firm Mishcon de Reya is to cut 17 from its staff base, including two partners, following a redundancy consultation.
The firm confirmed it has fired a salaried partner from its real estate practice and one from its corporate practice.
In 2007, Mishcon saw a 70% growth in profit per equity partner. In 2008, growth slowed to 1.7%.
Mishcon de Reya is a London law firm specialising in commercial law. It was formed when Victor Mishcon merged with Bartletts de Reya in 1988. The firm came to wider notice when partner Anthony Julius represented Diana, Princess of Wales in her divorce.
