Summary: An argument over seating at a Pennsylvania church ended with one man dead from multiple gunshot wounds and the shooter in jail.

Road rage is one thing but now you need to be aware of pew rage after a churchgoer in Pennsylvania was fatally shot over a seat.

Robert Braxton III, 27, was asked to move because he was sitting in a seat reserved for two other church members for the Sunday service. An argument ensued with him yelling at a church member that had tapped his shoulder, “don’t f—ing touch me.”

Braxton calmed down after talking with a church usher and the pastor. It was then that 46-year-old Mark Storms approached Storms with a gun in his hand, telling him to get out of the church. Storms flashed a Concealed Weapons Permit badge that is believed to have been purchased online.

Braxton then punched Storms in the jaw saying, “F— you and your fake badge, get the F— out of here.” Some witnesses thought they heard Braxton say “That’s not a real gun” and “What are you going to do, shoot me?” Storm did just that. He opened fire on Braxton, shooting him in the chest and right arm. He was rushed to the hospital but died from the gunshot wounds.

Storms was arrested and charged with voluntary manslaughter and reckless endangerment. The District attorney said at a press conference, “Storm’s shooting of Mr. Braxton was not a reasonable self-defense situation.” There was no reason for a loaded gun to be in the crowded church and he had no right to confront Braxton.

His bail has been set at $250,000. He claims it was self-defense and he showed his gun to defuse the situation, which he has done before according to court records.

Australian Bronwyn Joy Parker, 22, says she made a pact with her boyfriend after meeting him on Facebook: If he ever strayed, she could burn his penis with a flat iron.

In December of 2013, the boyfriend had a two-night tryst with his ex-lover. Parker soon discovered the affair and reminded him of the promise. She ordered him to remove his penis from his shorts. He complied, telling her she could “tap it” with the straightener.

Parker assured him she would not burn his testicles. Then she took his penis in one hand; with the other, she placed the straighteners on either side of the shaft. “I need not here say anything of the pain and shock which he then experienced,” the judge later commented.

The victim states his genitalia was “swollen, blistering and pussy and black in color.” But he was too embarrassed to seek treatment at first. When it became clear the damage was serious, he visited the Burns Unit of the Royal Adelaid Hospital and was told his member had suffered third-degree scars on each side.

Parker told the police she only applied the flat iron for a second or two. She thought it would feel like a sunburn. “To start off with…it didn’t look to bad,” she said. “[I]t just looked as if you had cooked a piece of meat,” she told authorities.

Earlier this week Judge Paul Muscat of the District Court of South Australia sentenced Parker to a nine-month prison sentence. He subsequently suspended the sentence after she entered an 18-month good behavior bond.

In Australia a person found guilty of an offense may put up a bond and promise to be on their good behavior for a stipulated period.

Summary: A Michigan teen shocked her friends and family when she faked being pregnant with triplets—for ten months.

Teenagers are known for pulling some pretty crazy stunts to receive attention, but one Michigan teen may have taken things too far.

The Huffington Post reports that a 16-year-old girl shocked her friends and family when she announced that she was pregnant—with triplets.

Last year, a Canadian woman faked a quintuplet pregnancy.

Her boyfriend, Jordan Wyrabkiewicz, was floored, but ready to take on the responsibility. He said, “I was excited, don’t get me wrong, but I was scared. I started looking for jobs the best I could. I was ready to donate all my time.”

The girl posted pictures of her growing stomach, as well as ultrasound photos of the three babies. She named them Isabella, Ivan, and Alice.

The couple, though they were young, received an outpouring of support from their community. Family members threw a baby shower, and the mom-to-be accepted thousands of dollars in gifts and donations from a nonprofit organization, a Facebook group called “Moms of Triplets,” and a local church.

However, things did not seem to progress naturally, as the teenage girl never gave birth. Jordan and his mother, Krissy Wyrabkiewicz were suspicious after nine months passed with no babies. Since twins and triplets tend to arrive early, their suspicion grew as time went on. Jordan and Krissy also were never able to pin down the name of the girl’s doctor.

Then, a member of Moms of Triplets got in touch with the Wyrabkiewicz family, and told them that the ultrasound photos looked just like some that were sold at a website called FakeABaby.com. The site also sells fake pregnancy bellies and DNA tests. According to the Washington Post, it also sells fake breast pushups, fake sonograms, and fake prescription pill bottles.

When confronted, the girl insisted that she was pregnant with triplets. Conveniently, the day before she was to have a C-section, she said that she had a miscarriage. Jordan’s aunt, Jessica Adams, said that she refused to see a doctor at that point.

Adams said, “So, I told the hotline she has three babies that she’s supposed to be full term with, and she won’t go to the hospital and they don’t have heartbeats. So, they sent detectives over there and she finally cracked and told the detectives that she lost them at six weeks.”

An attorney recently stated that his wife would kill him if he missed the birth of their child.

A man who has said he is the brother of the girl who allegedly faked the pregnancy said that all money and gifts would be returned. At this point, police are looking into the case, but no charges have been filed. According to Fox2Detroit.com, the girl could face criminal charges because of the amount of donations she accepted.

Jordan’s family is asking that FakeABaby.com be deleted because it allowed the girl to fake a pregnancy for so long.

Summary: Two sisters were punished for their brother’s elopement with a horrific sentence: they would be gang-raped by a group of men.

According to Jezebel.com, on July 30, 2015, Meenakshi Kumari, 23, and her 15-year-old sister were sentenced to be gang-raped by village elders in the Baghpat district in India.

The sentence would be disturbing enough, even if the sisters had committed some sort of crime. However, they are being punished for their brother’s actions—namely, the fact that he eloped.

An Indian Uber driver was arrested for an alleged rape of a passenger.

In a separate article, Vice reported that the pair of sisters was informed that their faces would be blackened, and they would then be raped and forced to walk naked in front of their neighbors. Kumari filed a petition with the Indian Supreme Court, begging for help. Kumari’s family is of the Dalit caste, which is at the bottom of India’s hierarchy. In fact, Dalit means “oppressed.”

Vice also added that the brother, 22, had been seeing the 21-year-old woman for three years. They had actually run away together on two different occasions, in January and March. They were caught in Meerut last summer. The woman pressed charges against the man for abducting her, and he has been in prison ever since.

Why would the woman state that he abducted her? An article from Mirror holds the probable answer—the woman was already married.

Last year, the Supreme Court in India ruled that Islamic courts have no legal authority in the country.

The elopement was also scandalous because apparently, the brother’s new bride is a member of a higher caste, the Jat.

The story went viral, and Amnesty International has gotten involved, filing a petition that seeks justice for the women. Amnesty stated that the sentence was given by an “unelected, all-male” council.

Although these councils have no true legal power, they heavily influence certain regions in India.

In 2013, India upheld a ban on homosexuality.

Amnesty added that the father filed complaints with national entities as well, stating that the family has been harassed by family members of the brother’s new wife and by the police as well.

The Supreme Court of India regularly tosses out decisions made by these types of councils if they are declared illegal. Right now, the Supreme Court is the family’s best shot at protection. Amnesty said that the “government…has an urgent duty to keep this family safe.”

Summary: In a story that shocked the nation, Joyce Mitchell helped two inmates escape from a New York prison. In her confession, she details the plans of the escape, as well as sexual encounters with one of the inmates.

CNN Reports that Joyce Mitchell, a former Clinton Correctional Facility employee, has confessed to having an inappropriate relationship with Richard Matt, an inmate, and how she brought tools into the New York prison that the pair used to escape.

According to the Washington Post, Mitchell’s relationship with the prisoners started with innocent flirting, and evolved into a Hollywood-style escape plan, including a plot to kill her husband. Now, Mitchell faces 27 months to seven years in prison for her role in the inmates’ escape. Sweat was apprehended by police, but Matt was shot and killed by law enforcement officers.

The following are ten of the revelations in Mitchell’s confession.

Mitchell ran the tailor shop at the prison. David Sweat and Richard Matt were assigned jobs in the tailor shop, and that’s where the three initially met.

Mitchell said, “Sweat was a good worker and was always very nice to me. We became close but never had a physical relationship…” She added, “Inmate Sweat was really close to inmate Matt. They were always together and shared everything. Inmate Matt and I got along well. We talked every day and he treated me with respect and was nice to me. He made me feel special.”

Matt later asked Mitchell to contact his daughter, and she did, on more than one occasion. Matt was known in the prison for his art, and he asked Mitchell to call his daughter to be sure she received one of his paintings.

Mitchell recalled, “I know it was wrong, but I called his daughter, Jamie, and told her who I was and that I was not supposed to be doing this, but I was doing this as a favor for her father. She asked me to let him know she got the paintings and was doing fine. After that, whenever he wanted me to contact his daughter, I would text her. We mostly talked about the paintings or how Inmate Matt would complain about his back being sore.”

Mitchell even asked Matt to paint a portrait of her kids as an anniversary gift for her husband, Lyle. She agreed to buy him some speed bag boxing gloves and two pairs of glasses with lights on them in exchange for the painting. Matt told Mitchell that he and Sweat would be painting at night.

Mitchell never received the painting. However, she kept bringing items to Matt, such as cookies, brownies, pepper, and other edible items.

David Sweat detailed his escape plan earlier this month.

In April, he was sexually violent toward Mitchell. She said, “Matt grabbed me and kissed me. It started me…I didn’t say anything because I was scared for my husband, who also works in the facility.” Matt forced Mitchell to perform oral sex on him, and he forced her to touch his penis.

According to CBS News, Mitchell also took “naked photos” of herself for Matt to give to Sweat.

Mitchell eventually realized that the inmates were digging a hole, but continued to supply them with tools. Mitchell said, “He initially told me it was for making frames, but I later found out that (Sweat and Matt) had cut a hole in the wall and were going down into the pipes. Sometime around this time, I also bought them batteries for the glasses I had given them. I found out about the hole because inmate Matt was coming into work tired. I asked him about sleeping and he said he was up all night. After a couple days, he told me he and inmate Sweat had cut the holes and were going down in the pipes.”

Mitchell was aware that Matt and Sweat were trying to break out of prison. According to Mitchell: “Inmate Matt told me they had found a tool box with power tools under the facility. They were using them to get out through the pipe system. Inmate Matt told me they were getting out and we were all going to be together. By this he meant inmate Sweat, him and I.”

Mitchell was asked to call another individual who would help arrange the inmates’ escape. Matt told Mitchell to call a number and pretend she worked at a doctor’s office, acting as though she was confirming an appointment. She would need to give the time and date. Mitchell said, “He told me they would bring me a package and I was supposed to bring it to him…. I started to call the number that night at 6:06 p.m. but got scared and hung up, before it rang.”

Last year, Charles Manson planned to get married in prison.

On the night Matt and Sweat escaped, Mitchell was asked to bring Matt a shotgun. According to the confession, “The plan was that I was going to leave my husband and meet him there and we were all going to be together. He did not say where we were going to go. He asked me to bring a shotgun that he could saw off.”

Part of the plan included Mitchell slipping her husband pills. The confession reads, “The day they (Sweat and Matt) were supposed to escape I was supposed to give my husband, Lyle, 2 pills. These pills were intended to knock Lyle out so I could leave the house.”

Matt planned to kill Mitchell’s husband. In her statement, Mitchell said, “After I picked them up, the plan was to drive to my home …” for Matt to “kill ‘the glitch.’” Matt called Mitchell’s husband “the glitch.”

However, Mitchell had a panic attack and had to be hospitalized. Sweat and Matt escaped the prison. Guards noticed the two were missing on June 6.

Mitchell said, “I really do love my husband and he’s the reason I didn’t meet” the inmates. She said that she “enjoyed the attention” and “the thought of a different life.”

She said, “I am really sorry for what I have done.”

Summary: A former dental hygienist was awarded over $700,000 by a jury after she argued she could no longer work due to injuries she sustained after she fell on a town sidewalk.

According to the Connecticut Law Tribune, a dental hygienist who was forced to stop working because of a hand injury she suffered after falling on a faulty sidewalk was awarded over $770,000 by a jury.

On June 7, 2011, Susan Ellis, 73, was taking her lunch break from the dental office where she worked.

Her attorney, Alan Rome of Rome, Clifford, Katz & Koerner in Hartford, stated that Ellis was walking with a couple of her friends on a town sidewalk. At one location in the sidewalk, there was a 1.5-inch gap between the brick paver surface and the concrete slab. Ellis tripped and fell over this gap, severely injuring her wrist.

Ellis had x-rays taken, which showed that she had a Colles’ fracture, which is a severely damaging fracture. It can lead to what is called a “dinner fork deformity,” named for how the forearm can look after the injury.

A baseball fan was allowed to sue a stadium over injuries he suffered during a game in 2013.

Ellis had to undergo multiple surgeries, and needed metal plates and rods in her wrist. After her reconstruction surgery, Ellis’ wrist became infected, which required an additional surgery. Finally, a third surgery was necessary to remove the hardware.

Now, Ellis has a permanent disability. She was no longer able to work as a dental hygienist, and sought four years of lost wages at her trial.

Rome said, “The loss of her ability to perform work was really the big issue.”

Ellis’ medical bills amounted to $95,000. Ellis later filed a civil suit against the town of West Hartford, arguing that the defective sidewalk caused her fall. According to West Hartford statutes, the town must maintain its sidewalks in a safe condition.

Randall Hayes of O’Connell, Attmore & Morris defended the suit. Hayes argued that the town was not at fault, and that Ellis fell due to her own negligence.

A liability claim for a defective spinal implant was denied earlier this month.

If the jury found that Ellis was even one percent negligent for her fall, then she would collect zero damages.

The trial went on for three days. Rome called an expert witness to show that the gap was a tripping hazard. Additionally, West Hartford’s engineer admitted that the town does not do regular inspections, and that portion of the sidewalk had been around for over a decade. Inspections are only performed if complaints are received.

According to case law, a town is assumed to have notice of defects if it does not conduct inspections. Therefore, because the town admitted that there was not an inspection process, notice was presumed.

Hayes argued that Ellis was not paying attention as to where she was walking, but the jury did not buy these arguments. Additionally, she was not using her cell phone as she walked.

Six Flags was recently ordered to pay $32.2 million to a Georgia victim.

The jury found the defendants 100 percent liable, and awarded $500,000 for noneconomic damages, $100,000 for lost wages, $75,000 for lost future earnings and $95,357 for economic damages and medical bills.

Rome commented, “When a town doesn’t perform inspections or have an inspection program, it leaves the town vulnerable to these types of verdicts.”

Summary: A woman in a Boston gym apparently suffered major injuries after her butt implants exploded as she completed a set of squats.

You may have heard about a woman whose butt implants exploded while she was doing squats at the gym.

Allegedly, according to BroBible.com, 27-year-old Serena Beufort, a Boston resident, was injured when her implants ruptured in her gym. Beufort had reportedly gone to an unlicensed clinic to surgically enhance her derriere with 64-inch butt implants. According to Beufort’s sister, Jackie, Serena wanted to be Instagram famous, and thought that having a large bottom would catapult her into stardom.

A woman was arrested for smuggling cocaine in her implants.

Reports stated that a loud popping sound was heard as Beuford squatted, and that she fell to the ground and screamed “My a** is gone!”

However, according to reports, the implants damaged Beufort’s “rectum, colon, and lower intestines.” She is now in a coma in serious condition. The clinic is now reportedly under investigation.

In 2012, it was reported that Middle Eastern men were getting moustache implants.

Well, although it’s an entertaining story, it’s not true. News 4 San Antonio revealed that the story was first published on NewsWatch33.com, a fake news website. Snopes has also exposed the story as a fake. According to ThatsFake.com, there is no one with the name Serena Beufort listed on any social media sites.

In 2012, a mom tried to convince her 14-year-old daughter to get breast implants.

To our knowledge, there have been no injuries caused by exploding butt implants.

Summary: A heated sexual harassment trial ended on Friday with claims that the defendant was both a family man and a deceptive liar.

According to Litigation Daily, a peculiar sexual harassment trial against a Wall Street stock trader finally ended on Friday. During the closing arguments, Benjamin Wey was accused of being a liar unable to feel remorse, and was hailed as a doting husband and father.

The mayor of Salt Lake City has been accused of sexual harassment.

Hanna Bouveng, a 25-year-old Swedish national, sued Wey, 43, and his company, New York Global Group, in July of 2014. Bouveng argued that Wey persuaded her into engaging in a sexual relationship with him when she was an intern from 2013-2014. When she ended the relationship, she argues she was fired.

Wey was well known in the business world for connecting Chinese companies with U.S. advisers and investors by helping them obtain stock listings through reverse mergers, a controversial process. According to Wikipedia, the process involves a private company’s acquisition of a public company to avoid the lengthy process required to go public. Wey, according to his company’s site, is a financier and expert on China who advises governments and Fortune 500 companies. The site also states he is a journalist and civil rights advocate.

David Ratner of Morelli Alters Ratner represents Bouveng. Dentons partners Glenn Colton and Gary Meyerhoff represent Wey.

On the last day of trial, Colton stated that both parties were at fault. He said, “There will be, and are, no winners in this case.”

The owner of the Dallas Cowboys was sued for sexual harassment.

In an attempt to discredit Bouveng, Colton argued she was a party girl whose job performance suffered due to her constant clubbing. He argued that Wey and Bouveng never had sex, and that Bouveng’s story changed over time. For example, Bouveng apparently first stated that she and Wey spent a night together at a hotel, but later said it was two nights, after being presented with a bill that showed a two-night stay. Wey argued that he was the only one that stayed in the room.

Colton also attempted to show that Wey was a devoted husband. He argued that when Wey considered renting an apartment for Bouveng to help her out, he spoke to his wife about it first. “There’s no dispute that he told her about the apartment,” he commented. Colton also argued that Wey would not have done so if he was having an affair, and that there were legitimate reasons to fire Bouveng.

Wey also allegedly posted articles online about Bouvent that called her a drug dealer and a prostitute. In response to these actions, Colton argued that these statements were not defamatory because they did not cause any true damage to her. In support of this argument, Colton showed the jury pictures of Bouveng smiling and having fun with her friends after the statements were posted on the Internet.

Last year, a plaintiff won damages in a sexual harassment case against his female boss.

Bouveng’s attorney argued that Wey forced Bouveng to have sex with him so that she could keep her job. “Force is using your position as the boss to make an employee do something she doesn’t want to do,” Ratner argued. Ratner has also stated that Wey was a habitual liar and a narcissist. She said, “He doesn’t tell the truth about anything.”

As for the online statements, Ratner argued that these were defamation per se. “What he’s done is destroy her reputation.” She said that Bouveng “lost her ambition [and] lost her joy” because of Wey’s actions.

In closing, Ratner asked for $25 million in punitive damages for each of the five claims that were brought against Wey. According to the New York Daily News, the jury returned a verdict for $18 million.

Summary: An attorney has been arrested for using the Internet to seek sex with a young boy.

According to MyFoxDC.com, 29-year-old Matthew Gigot, an attorney in Washington, D.C., was charged with sexual performance using a minor on Friday.

In 2013, over 300 individuals were arrested in a child porn sting in Canada.

According to legal documents, an undercover officer communicated with Gigot online. The pair exchanged messages on a website that is commonly visited by individuals with sexual interests in children, as well as incest. The pair also communicated through their phones on an app called Kik.

An Illinois attorney also faces child porn allegations.

Gigot allegedly texted the officer and told him that he wanted to have sex with a 12-year-old boy. The cover story was that the father of the boy was organizing the event.

Gigot reportedly asked, “[h]ow young would you go…I’d do 5[,] [b]ut 0-12 is hot.”

Internet search engines have implemented technology to try to delete child pornography from the web.

Gigot also sent the officer a video of a boy, estimated to be about eight years old, performing a sexual act while naked. Gigot also sent a picture of himself.

Kik turned over its chat logs associated with the user name “pervyboy20” and a Gmail address. AT&T then traced these messages to Gigot’s phone, and Comcast linked records to Gigot’s home address.

Gigot is licensed to practice law in Maryland and previously worked for LDiscovery, which is a legal services company based out of Virginia. LDiscovery stated that Gigot was a temporary employee there, but that he currently does not work there.

Gigot must wear an ankle bracelet and has been ordered to abstain from communicating with minors.
