I’m sure that most people can appreciate honesty, even if the honest message is kind of painful to receive and misguided, most tend to respect people who can honestly express their certain worldviews.

So, when people started to see an email from a career services officer at a law school where she stated that finding students a job was not her job, well, most just nodded as they said, ”Great honestly.”

I mean, that’s how most of those career service officers feel anyway. They ”advise” and ”counsel” and ”leave early to go to the gym” but it’s definitely someone else’s job to actually make sure these students are employed Right? Because people don’t go to law school to get jobs, they go because, well realistically, the CSO doesn’t care too much why people go to law school, just as long as the students don’t blame the CSO when they are unemployed and struggling.

At least this particular CSO employee had the courage to tell the student body the truth.

This is the email that was sent out by the officer telling her students the truth:

”Hello Students:
This is my final attempt to gather information about summer employment data from you. Between the two classes I received about 90 responses total. Thanks to all of those respondents! I would like to share this insight with you, though. ”A little birdie” stopped by my official after I sent the last e-mail and informed me that there was some type of agreement among several of the 2L’s and 3L’s to refuse to supply this information in some form of protest against Career Services not ”doing our job” -apparently misconstructed as ”finding people jobs.”
In looking back at the responses we’ve received so far I noticed an important trend. The names of the respondents were familiar to me for the most part. In other words, those who responded had actually used the services of this office. Many of the responses identified Symplicity, on-campus interviewing, other career contacts as their summer job sources. The student feedback from the students who have actually used our services and attended our programming has been good. Unfortunately, there is a large segment of you who we would help, but we’ve never even met you. Therefore I make the following offer to everyone: please come into our office to make sure that the application materials you are sending sound, that you can interview effectively and that we can help you with contacts. If you choose to respond and provide real-world data, I would greatly appreciate it. No matter what, though, our offices are open to all students who seek help in this process. All are welcome”

And this is coming from the director of career services. Her job is literally to find people jobs. To help them get their first job to start out their career.

Since her days as a toddler, Stacey Irvine fell in love with chicken nuggets and simply could not find the desire to change her diet. Irvine has never tasted fresh vegetables or fruit, and has eaten hardly anything else besides chicken nuggets. Occasionally, she will have a portion of french fries to accompany her  meal.

Over the years, the 17 year old girl has been urged to change her diet by her mother and physicians. However, she says that she is unable to give up her fast food lifestyle. The girl has been hooked on nuggets since she first tried them at two-years-old.

“I loved them so much they were all I would eat. I just couldn’t face even trying other foods. Mum gave up giving me anything else years ago.”

Living in Castle Vale, Birmingham, the teenager admits to eating a slice of toast for breakfast or the occasional package of chips. However, that’s about the stretch of her diet’s variety.

She was rushed to the hospital after collapsing due to an extreme vitamin and nutrient deficiency. Although she refuses to change her diet, she is back at home recovering with an incredibly high dose of vitamins.

“I am starting to realize this is really bad for me. My main meal is always chicken nuggets every day. McDonald’s chicken nuggets are my favorite. I share 20 with my boyfriend with chips. But I also like KFC and supermarket brands”

Evonne Irvine, Stacey’s mother, does not know what else to do. She is struggling with the inability to make her child eat a varied and healthy diet. She desires that the child go see a specialist.

She says, “She’s been told in no uncertain terms that she will die if she carries on like this. But Stacey says she can’t eat anything else. It breaks my heart to see her eating those nuggets. I am at my wit’s end. I’m praying she can be helped before it is too late.”

Evonne is not neglecting her child. In fact, she is doing all she can to convince Stacey to change her diet. The beauty therapist has two other children, Ava, 3, and Leo, 5. Both of those children eat healthy diets.

She has tried everything she can think of to get her to change. The caring mother has even gone as far as trying to deprive Stacey in a bid to prick her desire for another type of food. However, all attempts were to no avail.

The 17-year-old is facing serious heath problems and will face death soon if she does not change her diet.

During the arrest of Mel Gibson on suspicion on drunk driving, the arresting officer now claims that he was discriminated against. Attorneys for the officer desire for Gibson to serves as a witness in the upcoming trial. Deputy James Mae claims that he was discriminated against after the arrest of the Oscar-winner because he is Jewish. The trial will focus its attention on things happening after the arrest of Gibson in 2006, and hope to use Gibson as a prime witness to determine if the officer did, indeed, suffer discrimination because of the arrest.

Mee’s attorneys want to prove to the court that due to a close relationship with Gibson, the Los Angeles County’s Sheriff’s Department acted to protect the star instead of put him to justice.

The county refuses to submit to the accusation that Mee faced retaliation or discrimination from the department.

During the arrest, Gibson made several anti-Semantic comments. This is where most of the trail will focus. Mee claims that department superiors forced Mee to remove the comments from the report. He also claims that he did not receive a promotion because of this incident, and he was ostracized from the rest of the department.

In 2009, the conviction of Gibson was expunged because he had complied all of the terms laid out in his sentence. However, the expungement did not do anything to repair his damaged reputation. Shortly after his arrest, details of his sexist rant and anti-Semitic remarks were shared with TMZ, a celebrity gossip website. Because of this leak, Gibson’s reputation was destroyed for years. The actor apologized for his behavior and worked hard to completed the terms of his sentence to begin rebuilding his reputation.

Prior to the arrest, Gibson worked as a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Mee’s attorneys are seeking the opportunity to show a public service of Gibson in a Deputy’s uniform he filmed before the arrest. The attorneys feel it will give a good context to the jurors regarding the actor’s relationship with the department.

In a court filing, his attorneys wrote that “the circumstances that serve as a backdrop to the harassment and hostile work environment that Deputy Mee suffered. Gibson wasn’t just another arrestee. He was the ‘public face’ of the department.”

Sheriff Lee Baca has also been requested to testify, according to a filed witness list for the case. Steve Whitmore, Baca’s spokesman, said, “He’ll do whatever is legally appropriate. We look forward to telling the whole story.”

The trial is scheduled to begin on February 14.

After learning of her pregnancy at 16, Jamie Lynn Spears tucked out of the limelight to raise her daughter. Now she is finally ready to begin opening up about her teenage pregnancy. She plans to do so by jumping back into the spotlight and advancing her music career. However, despite her plans for her music career, Maddie, her 3-year-old daughter will remain her top priority.

“These days, the only thing I’m afraid of is not being a good mom. As long as Maddie is healthy and she loves me, the rest doesn’t matter.”

The life that comes along with being pregnant at 16 is no doubt a road of difficulties. Spears plans to speak out on this subject through her music.

“That’s been the coolest thing – realizing that it’s okay to just be myself and really tell my story. I expect the scrutiny. The last time anyone heard anything of me, I was 16 and pregnant. All I can do is be my best – there will always be people who will never like me.”

Regarding her teenage pregnancy, Spears told Glamour that she was far too embarrassed to go to the doctor to seek out proper birth control to guard against it.

“I was 16. I’d had one boyfriend. It doesn’t make it perfect or all right. But I was judged for something that probably most everyone does. I was young. I was in love. I was like every other teenager, except I had this last name. And I made a decision that is forever my decision.”

In an effort to make sure her fans heard the news from her instead of another source, she tried to get ahead of it. She turned to OK! Magazine upon first leaning of the pregnancy. In that, tabloids ran with it saying that she was trying to glamorize teen pregnancy to other teenage fans.

“I hated when the tabloids said that. Everybody is dealt a hand of cards. It was my choices to play them the way I played them. But the hateful comments hurt.”

Spears has big plans for her music career, and is very excited for the opportunity to show people the matured, adult version of the girl they once knew.

“I was a kid who did a kid show. The I went away and raised by child, and the world has never met me as an adult. This is the first time anybody is really meeting me as a grown woman and a grown mother making a decision about what to do with my life. Do people have an idea of who they think I am? Yes, and that’s fine with me. My music will speak for itself.”

Messianic minister, Rabbi Ralph Messer, instructed the congregation at New Birth Missionary Baptist church in Lithonia, Georgia, to wrap Eddie Long in a tallis, which is a ritual Jewish shawl. Messer speaks to the congregation, saying, “He’s a king. God’s blessed him. He’s a humble man. But in him is kingship. In him is royalty. In him was a land of Israel. He now is raised up from a commoner to a kingship.”

Long is raised onto a throne in the sanctuary to demonstrate his kingship. Ecstatic applause of his parishioners fills the room as he is elevated to such a position.

However, others leaders throughout the religious world do not find this ceremony nearly as applause worthy. A video circulating through the web shows the ceremony in its entirety. Religious leaders have stated that the entire ceremony is completely inappropriate and repulsive.

Director of Media Relations at the National Baptist Convention, the Rev. Morris Tipton, reached out to The Grio concerning his feelings about the video. He was not impressed. Tipton expresses his concern of elevating Long by saying, “God has called us to be serving leaders and not celebrities.” Tipton represents the largest convention of African American Baptists within the United States.

Rabbi David Shiff, member of the Messianic Jewish synagogue in Roswell, Congregation Beth Hallel, did not at all support Messer’s claim to being a Messianic Jew.

“Ralph Messer in no way represents Messianic Judaism. He is not affiliated with any legitimate branch of Messianic Judaism. His actions in no way reflect the position of Messianic Judaism. I found the presentation to be repulsive and inappropriate.”

The way that Long used the scrolls of the Torah, a divine book in Judaism, offended Jews throughout the nation that have seen the video. Messer, during the video, mentions that the Torah used in the ceremony was “a Holocaust scroll.” He mention the Poland concentration camps during the Holocaust, at which time six million Jews were brutally murdered by Hitler’s Nazis.

Even a scholar of the Holocaust did not slightly understand his point with bringing up such a subject during a ceremony. Professor of Christian Ethics at Mercer University, David P. Gushee, reached out to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution regarding the use of the scrolls in Long’s ceremony. He stated, “The connection of the Torah scroll to the Holocaust and then to Eddie Long is incomprehensible to me. What was the point?”

The convenience of smartphones has made life incredibly more convenient. It allows people to take both personal and work lives with them wherever life leads. It makes businesses more effective, traveling easier, and has even made time on the toilet a more enjoyable experience.

A new, recent study looked into the mobile phone habits of smartphone users. It evaluated several using habits of the users, including the ways that they spend their time on the toilet. It seems that with the induction of smartphones, magazines are a thing of the past. The study revealed that nearly 75 percent of the people find that the phone is the answer when nature calls. People are now choosing to email, text, surf the webs and use apps during time spent in the toilet.

A vast 90 percent of people between the ages of 28 and 35 will use the phone on the toilet. This group, according to the study, will probably text you will sitting on the throne. In fact, that 90 percent of people are likely to even call you during, what should be, a very private time.

A fifth of men have participated in a conference call during this time. It seems the possibility of accidentally revealing where you are at by hitting FaceTime isn’t a big concern for these men. Even worse, the possibility of other callers hearing unmentionable noises during this time does not seem to even phase some during a conference call.

According to the survey, likelihood of what you do on the phone during toilet time largely depends on what type of smartphone you own. Broken down by brand, the survey shows these results:

• Multi-taskers, using a variety of applications and doing several things, tend to be Android  users.
• If someone is taking a call, they are probably sporting a BlackBerry
• And those using apps on toilet are most likely using an iPhone.

So, if you’ve always felt a little weird about taking the phone into the bathroom with you in loo (lieu) of a magazine, don’t worry. Many other people across the world have found it to be a valuable replacement. And, it’s much easier to hide when sneaking away for some time on the toilet during working hours. Proudly walk into a bathroom and use it to pass the time. But, perhaps avoid taking conference calls while sitting on the toilet. That’s a little awkward for everyone.

The survey consisted of 1,000 people.

People throughout the world know about sheepdogs. These animals are bred for farm work, specifically the task of herding all of the sheep into one place. These dogs are swift and loud, making the sheep afraid. In fear, the all herd together and the sheepdog has accomplished its task. Any good sheepdog has been trained to know how to properly herd the sheep, though much of it comes instinctively.

However, despite the popularity of sheepdogs on farms, not many have heard of a sheep rabbit. That’s where Champis the herding rabbit comes into play. Unlike the dogs, Champis hasn’t received any type of training or breeding that makes it a great herder. While fast, it is not loud. Instead, after countless times of watching the sheepdogs, Champis decided that he wanted to give it a try. So, he did and he was very successful.

Owner of the Rabbit, Greta Virgren, spoke to The Local about the self-taught, sheep herding rabbit. He says, “He learnt the skills himself, we had nothing to do with it. He surely has seen the dogs doing it before, but really, Champis thinks he is the king of the farm, and that he owns the sheep.”

Dan Westman,  friend of the farm owner, is a sheepdog breeder that writes a blog about life on the farm in Sweden, captured Champis in action. The video is five minutes long, showing Champis herding the sheep within the pen.

Champis may only weight a little bit and be small in size, but in his mind it seems his is king of the world. Nothing seems to stop this little guy from doing a good deed. In a recent story on Westman’s blog, the rabbit saved one of his favorite hens from a ram in the barn. Truly this little guy is all about helping others out.

The farm is located in northern Sweden. Over the course of the past week, the video of Champis on the farm has gained a rapid following. It has received more than 650,000 views. The success of this video has boggled the mind of Westman, who was not expecting such a response at all. In his interview with The Local he was asked his thoughts on the popularity of the video. He simply responded that he didn’t know and said, “Maybe you can tell me why?”

With such popularity, Westman wants to make sure it is used for good. In a blog post he said in a bit of broken English, “Now when the video of Champis being such a success on YouTube, we want to use that in a positive way. We want him to be a symbol of a little goodness in the world…”

David Tutera, the star of WE’s wedding Reality show My Fair Wedding, is being sued by disgruntled former clients. The former clients are coming forward and saying that he failed to deliver the desired services to the wedded couples.

Aside from his fame from the reality show, Tutera claims a long list of celebrity clientele. According to the New York Daily News, that list includes very big names like Jennifer Lopez and Elton John. You’d think with such a high rise list of clientele, he would work hard to deliver the greatest amount of quality possible to his clients. However, that’s not the story provided by a few of his clients. It seems that if you are not a big name, your wedding is not at the top of his list of priorities.

However, that doesn’t change the price tag for his services. Hector Santana and Wendylee Perez hired Tutera to plan their wedding. His expertise and planning abilities came at a price of $15,000. This couple was not featured on the television series, nor an A-list couple.

According to the couple, Tutera explained that the hefty fee was supposed to cover “anything and everything that is needed to make the wedding happen.”

Well, the wedding happened, but it was nothing like they wanted. The dream of a perfect wedding quickly turned into a horrific nightmare. What was supposed to be a quaint, $10,000 wedding in the beautiful Dominican Republic quickly went out of control under the direct of Tutera.

The final tally for the wedding was $30,000. On top of those expenses, Tutera failed to provide the flowers, wedding cake, DJ, and even the invitations! As if that wasn’t bad enough, Tutera did not even come to the big day. They say that he claimed he had to go visit a sick relative in the hospital and could not attend their November 2010 wedding. Come to find out, Tutera had a taping for the reality show scheduled that day and he chose to attend that instead.

How detailed the contract is will determine the success or failure of the lawsuit for the disgruntled couple. If the contract does not explicitly state that Tutera would attend the event, provide the invitations, flowers, wedding cake and DJ, then Tutera may get off the hook with this lawsuit. However, if it does say those things, it may lead to a quiet settlement outside the courts.

That’s what happened in the previous lawsuit that My Fair Wedding faced. A bride claimed a lawsuit against the reality show for over $300,000. That was resolved outside of the courts. Will this end in a settlement as well? The answer lies in the details.

United States spy agencies reveal a possible terrorist attack on the US. Iran, due to a perceived threat from the West, is prepared to launch an attack on US soil. The spy agency report highlights areas of risk due to the Obama administration continues to put pressure on Tehran. The administration is escalating pressure in an attempt to stop it from creating an atomic bomb.

Intelligence officials feel that there is no real threat to the United States. In a congressional testimony, officials expressed that Iran recently crossed a threshold in being an adversary against the United States. Although Iran has been blamed for attacks on American oversees, officials believe that the attempted assassination of the Saudi ambassador in Washington last year has troubling significance.

James R. Clapper Jr., the Director of National Intelligence, says that the thwarted plot “shows that some Iranian officials – probably including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei – have changed their calculus and are now more willing to conduct an attack in the United States in response to real or perceived US actions that threaten the regime.”

Clapper submitted a written testimony to Congress on Tuesday that included a warning about a more aggressive stance Iran was planning to take. This was done during the intelligence community’s annual assessment of the most impending threats on security throughout the nation.

According to US intelligence officials, the al-Qaeda group has been degraded over the past few months and not showing any immediate threat. However, during the assessment, a concern for the Chinese cyber-espionage was expressed. North Korea being nuclear-armed during the transition of leadership and uncertainty of Afghanistan after the departure of United States troops were also a topic of discussion during this meeting.

However, regardless of the many other concerns, CIA Director David H. Petraeus, Clapper and other US intelligence officials spent a significant portion of time discussing the many questions dealing with Iran.

The country has nuclear ambitions that Washington is keeping a close eye on. It has always posed as a underlying concern, but with the new developments a higher sense of urgency has been revealed. Despite the lack of obvious attacks, the US feels that conflict has already started. Intelligence reports suggest that Iran is planning a series of assassinations, explosions and computer attacks, and are very close to completing the development of the bomb.

Iran claims that all of its nuclear developments are an effort to produce a better energy system, and only have peaceful reasons in mind for its efforts.

High school students on a field trip near the Rio Grande river in Albuquerque heard the cries of a homeless man down by the river. Upon further investigation, the students realized that he was stuck in the thick mud. According to authorities, the man had been stuck there for three days before the students came to his rescue. Unfortunately, the man’s freedom wouldn’t last long.

A biology teacher at La Cueva High School and his groups of students were the ones that heard the man yelling. It was Saturday morning and the man was crying out from marshy wetlands in the Oxbow Open Space Preserve. The students were engaged in a school project around two lies north of I-40 in Albuquerque on this early Saturday morning. When they saw the distressed man, they quickly called the local authorities. The students reported that a man cannot move and has been stuck in the river mud for three days.

According to the official report, preserve officers and fire crews quickly responded to the call from the students. Upon arrival they found “a male subject stuck on a reed island about a hundred yards from the west bank of the river,” read the report.

A simply pulley system was quickly assembled to help remove the man from the river and mud, and get him to dry ground. The rescue crew deployed an air boat equipped with the pulley system over to the man. Once securing him to the pulley, the crew lifted the man from the water and mud, and then up the hill to dry land.

He was quickly transported to a local hospital for treatment. Police identified the man as Clayton Senn. He was a transient who was living near the river at the time of the accident.

It was then discovered that, while rescued from the mud, Senn was about to be trapped in an even messier situation. A warrant was out for his arrest. It was for suspected aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. It is a felony charge. After he finishes treatment at the Albuquerque hospital, police will book him on the warrant upon his release.

The condition of Clayton Seen would not be provided by the local hospital. It is unknown whether the man has been released yet or not. Also, whether or not authorities have taken him under arrest for the felony of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
