Audrey Pence Finishes Up First Year at Yale Law School

Summary: The Vice President’s daughter has been quietly attending law school at Yale this past year.

Tiffany Trump may get all the attention but she is not the only child of our nation’s leaders attending law school. Vice President Mike Pence discreetly noted during a speech that his daughter Audrey Pence was attending a law school in Connecticut.

During a speech on March 14 at the Independent Women’s Forum, Pence discussed his daughter’s legal ambitions. He said, “And my daughter, Audrey, is up at a law school in Connecticut and doing really well in her first year. I couldn’t be more proud.”

Law.com confirmed that Audrey is enrolled at Yale Law School, the top-rated law school in the country again by U.S. News & World Report. She is finishing up her first year at the New Haven, Connecticut school, which has kept her very busy.

Audrey is listed as a member of the law school’s Title IX Working Group, which “advises on policies and efforts to address campus climate” in regards to sexual harassment and assault. Title IX is the federal law that prohibits sex discrimination on college campuses. The 19-member group also develops educational programming and publications involving Title IX issues. Audrey delivered a presentation in December explaining how employment law combats sex discrimination in the workplace.

Audrey graduated from Northeastern University last year in Boston with a degree in International Affairs. During her senior year, she interned at the Turkey-based nonprofit Fuller Project for International Reporting. Her work there included writing stories on bride kidnapping, the 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide and Syrian journalists working in Turkey. She told the school publication, “I went out into the streets with a Turkish co-worker and got quotes from people for a story on the Armenian Genocide, and we got that published on CNN International’s website. That was one I got a shared byline on, which was really exciting.”

One of the first stories Audrey worked on though was about a Syrian journalist writing an underground newspaper for Syrians in Turkey. Audrey said, “We had to be extremely careful when writing that story when it came names and locations.”
