Summary: A new lawsuit claims Steve Harvey stalked a woman and “murdered” her “emotional state of mind.”

Talk show host Steve Harvey has been sued for stalking and harassment. According to Radar Online, the court documents were filed in Los Angeles on March 8 by the widow of actor Fred Berry.

Essie Berry said that she received an offer to be on a reality show called “Widow, Wives, and Ex Celebrity Wives” in 2013 so she contacted Harvey’s ex, Mary Vaughn, to join her. Instead of agreeing to do the show, however, Berry said that Vaughn and Harvey badmouthed her to others.

“Steve Harvey continued to make attempts to shatter and murder Ms. Berry’s emotional state of mind through the Texas court’s with a lie for years,” Berry wrote in her recent lawsuit. “Mr. Harvey made attempts to silence Ms. Berry through malicious prosecution in order to protect his super stardom image.”

Berry said that Harvey felt like she was an “extortionist” so he hired a process server to contact her and give her documents. She said that in December of 2013, she filed a police report and a restraining order for protection from Harvey because he threatened her if she exposed the truth about his marriage and family life.

Berry’s lawsuit has similar claims to one that Vaughn filed against Harvey in 2017. In that case, Vaughn said that the comic cheated on her and stole money. Vaughn said that Harvey’s bad behavior eventually caused her to have a mental breakdown.

Vaughn’s $60 million lawsuit was dismissed because the judge said it was filed in the wrong jurisdiction.

When Vaughn filed the lawsuit, Harvey’s lawyer, Brandon R. Williams, said that the “Family Feud” star denied his ex-wife’s claims.

“Mr. Harvey vehemently denies any allegations set forth in the lawsuit. The complaint is merit-less, frivolous and the allegations are completely false. We will vigorously defend/counterclaim against the complaint,” Williams told Entertainment Tonight.

Berry said that in 2014 she reached out to Harvey for a formal apology, but that he refused.

“With feelings of hopelessness and depression, Ms. Berry was forced to be silent for four years in order to protect what little image she had left, and to protect Mary — while Mr. Harvey paraded around making false allegations against both Ms. Berry and Mary,” Berry said.

Berry is seeking an apology and $5 million from Harvey for his “malicious scare tactics.”
