Florida Doctor Accused of Masturbating in Front of Patient

Summary: A Florida doctor has been accused of masturbating onto a male patient during a physical exam.

An infectious disease doctor in Jacksonville has been placed on leave after a patient accused him of exposing himself during an exam.

The male victim said that Dr. Om Kapoor, 47, was his doctor for almost a year. The victim said that Kapoor told him to take off his clothes during a physical exam, which was something he had been asked to do three or four times prior.

However, Kapoor’s behavior changed on December 14. The victim claimed that while Kapoor was checking out his lower extremities, buttocks, and genitals he heard a strange noise. When the victim turned and looked over his shoulder, he said that the doctor had his penis out and was masturbating into a napkin.

According to the affidavit obtained by First Coast News, the victim yelled at Kapoor to stop, but the doctor continued. The victim said he felt a “sticky substance” land on his leg, and he said that he believed that the substance was semen.

The incident allegedly occurred at Baptist Hospital, who released a statement that the doctor was put on leave pending an investigation.

“We take seriously any allegations, especially charges of this nature, filed against physicians on the medical staffs of Baptist Health hospitals,” Baptist Health stated. “We are cooperating with the police investigation regarding the allegations. Dr. Kapoor is on a leave of absence pending investigation.”

The victim added that Kapoor told him that he was attractive and needed to return to his office. He allegedly told the victim he would “take good care”of him before he was escorted out and was given a new appointment.

The victim said that Kapoor went into another examination room that day so he snuck back into the original room to collect the napkin that Kapoor had masturbated into. He then used that as evidence when he filed a report with the police.

Kapoor was charged with battery and exposure of sexual organs. He has denied all allegations but would not provide a statement to First Coast News.

Former sex crimes investigator and Action News Jax crime and safety expert Ken Jefferson said that the victim was “very courageous” for filing the report and collecting the evidence.

“He had the wherewithal to know that, ‘I need something to support my allegations.’ So he collected the evidence for the police,” said Jefferson. “Without a corroborating witness, without any kind of physical evidence, it just becomes a word against another word.”
