Law Firms Give Back for Thanksgiving

Summary: Law firms across the country are helping their communities for the Thanksgiving holiday.

While Thanksgiving is well-known as a holiday where people overeat turkey and carbs, it is also a time to reflect on what we have in life and to give back to those in need.

This year, many law firms chose to help out their community in a variety of ways. From providing meals to those who can’t afford them to giving free rides after a night of drinking, lawyers across the country are proving that doing good feels good.

In Greenville, South Carolina, law firm Roe Cassidy Coates and Price cooked up a meal for The Greenville Boys and Girls Club, and they fed 150 kids. Attorney Josh Smith told the local Fox News’ affiliate that the firm wanted to do more than just write a check for the organization.

“We don’t just want to stroke the check,” Smith said. “Everyone was really excited and appreciative on a level that I didn’t anticipate, that’s something I’m really taken aback by and really happy about.”

In Orlando, Florida, the Pendas Law Firm held a free turkey giveaway that had locals lining up overnight. Beginning on Tuesday morning, the firm gave out 1,000 turkeys, and Pendas’ founder Lou Pendas said he noticed that a lot of hurricane victims came out to receive a bird.

“Even if it is not going to solve all their problems, at least they don’t have to worry about what they are going to eat for Thanksgiving,” Pendas said to My News 13.

Rinehardt Law firm in Mansfield, Ohio also provided turkeys to locals who otherwise wouldn’t have had a traditional meal. According to WMFD, the firm also gave out side dishes such as potatoes, gravy, and cake mix.

In Albuquerque, New Mexico, Elias Law organized a canned food drive, in addition to buying and donating 500 turkeys to families in need.

Besides food, some law firms decided to offer free rides to people wanting to get around after enjoying wine during their Thanksgiving meals. Carlson & Dumeer LLC in Middleton, Connecticut announced that it was giving out free rides on Thanksgiving day to cut down on drunk driving.

“Rides received from licensed taxi companies, Uber drivers, or Lyft drivers in Middlesex County, Hartford County, and New London County over the course of Thanksgiving weekend may be eligible for full reimbursement offered by Carlson & Dumeer, LLC. The free cab ride promotion is limited to just one ride per person,” the law firm said in a press release.
