Secret Recording Shows Woman Who Accused Usher of Giving Her Herpes Said They Had Used Condoms

Summary: A woman suing Usher was caught on tape saying the two used protection.

Alleged herpes carrier Usher is being sued by multiple people for exposing them to the disease, but in one case, his condom usage may save him millions.

The singer of the aptly titled hit, “Burn,” is facing a multimillion lawsuit from Georgia-based Laura Helm. Helm sued Usher originally for $10 million, saying he had exposed her to the disease without telling her, and then she upped the damage amount to $20 million when she discovered she had contracted the genital cold sore virus. In her lawsuit, she said that Usher and she had unprotected sex.

However, TMZ has unearthed a tape between Helm and her former publicist, Dennis Byron; and in the audio recording, Helm revealed that Usher had used condoms the whole time they were together. On the tape, Byron can be heard trying to get the gossip on whether or not Helm would be taking action against Usher, and Helm tried to downplay things, saying that she was okay with Usher because they had protected sex.

Days after the conversation, Helm filed her $10 million lawsuit.

Helm’s attorney Lisa West explained that Helm lied to Byron because she believed he was shopping a story about her to the media.

West said to TMZ that Helm “didn’t want to be exploited and, in her attempt to deter Byron from doing so, she told him (inaccurately) that she never had unprotected sex with Usher and that she did not have herpes.” West said that Helm has gone to the authorities to report Byron for extortion.

TMZ also discovered that Helm had pressed charges against Byron for stalking her but a judge had dismissed the case because of insufficient evidence.

Helm is reportedly a jazz singer, and she said that she and Usher had been friends for years before they began a sexual relationship earlier in 2017. In her lawsuit, Helm described two sexual encounters that occurred earlier this year–one in Atlanta on April 16 and one in New Orleans on April 28. In documents obtained by Radar Online, the plaintiff got sexually graphic, describing oral sex and how the two went skin-to-skin after he put on a condom.

Usher is married to Grace Miguel, who seems to be supporting him during the herpes scandal. Besides being sued by Helm, Usher also faces lawsuits from a man and a woman who said he had picked her out of the crowd at a concert. Earlier this year, Radar Online had revealed that he had settled a herpes lawsuit for $1.1 million with an unnamed celebrity stylist.
