A young man and woman in South Carolina were arrested after they were spotted by multiple witnesses having sex on the fairway of a golf course. The couple was seen Sunday evening at the Tega Cay Golf Club.

The duo was arrested and charged with indecent exposure after police were called with complaints about two people having sex in the middle of the golf course. One witness reported they “were having intercourse on hole #8 of the golf course.”

A patrolman arrived on scene shortly after to find a “male with no shorts and a female that appeared to only have a bra on.” He reported that the woman “was on her back and the male way laying down with his head between her legs performing oral sex.” He instructed them to stop and put their clothing on “multiple times.”

Kiernan Dunne Hennessey, 24, or Tega Cay and Dakota Len Payne, 19, of Clover were then arrested. Hennessey apparently lives in a home adjacent to the fairway where she was arrested. She was reported to have had said that she and Payne “should not have been engaged in those activities within public view.”

Fort Mill Times first reported the story. A witness told them that he contacted police when he spotted two individuals laying down in the middle of the fairway. He first “thought that someone was possibly having a medical issue.” He called the police for a possible medical situation. He got out a pair of binoculars to look more closely and “saw the male with his head between the female’s legs.”

A pair of witnesses that were playing at the tee box on hole 8 reported observing “what they thought was a deer laying down in the fairway. Upon closer inspection, they realized it was two people having ‘doggy-style’ intercourse.”

The pair were taken to the Fort Mill Police Department and hit with the misdemeanor indecent exposure charge. Their next court date will be October 3 in the Municipal Court in Tega Cay, a town 20 miles south of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Golf Digest suggests that sex on golf courses is actually quite common, although it usually happens in the middle of the night under the light the moon. Dartmouth golf course superintendent Steven Lyon reported that from 1981 to 2009, there were up to 100 couples trying to get intimate – let’s hope it was on the soft green grass and not the rough sand. He said his maintenance crew would find them scurrying from the course when the sprinklers came on or wrapped up in blankets before dawn.

A survey of golfers by the magazine found that one in three claimed to have engaged in sexual intercourse on the golf course. Of those that stated they had sex at the course, 90 percent enjoyed it enough to recommend the experience to others. The common complaints of the experience were dew, bugs, the darkness, and grass stains.
